... talked to the old man. Then I get jumped by the Sith Shadow ambush as expected.

What I didn't expect was that the Sith Shadow ambush would be a CL 75 and a CL77 MOB. Oneshot incap.

Now, was a master rifleman / master artisan / master DE. I'd figured (since this is an *ambush* and, by definition, you can't prepare) that a master rifleman would at least be able to hold their own.

The old man appeared right away, and gave me a new crystal, but the next time the Sith Shadows spawn, I'll be one-shot incapped again. Rinse and repeat. So it looks like Aurellia and force-sensitivity is even more gated than before. I'll need to drop all of DE and most of artisan in order to be able to get over this hurdle. Either that, or never leave my house unless I am grouped with at least a double-master combat prof.

And until I grind out enough combat boxes to be able to take these guys, I get to look forward to daily one-shot incapps / kills.

I was stunned that they would gate this so bad. Completely stunned. Getting force-sensitivity has always been tough for crafters, but buffs and friends could help that. You could still do it, and take advantage of the force-sensitive crafting abilities. Now, when I might step out my front door and be insta-killed, I can't see how havign a crafting profession is viable if I want to get to the village. I've managed to do everything else with a single master elite combat prof, but I can't see a way past this unless I drop crafter. *presumably* I'll be able to take it up again after i get to the village, btu come on. This is just crazy. Is it really so hard to scale the ambush to your CL?

As an asside, a full-on combat type can reach CL 80, making this ambush fairly trivial for them.

Best would be to /bug it or report it in one of the feedback threads...

Pre-CU the ambush was very easy and "should" still be

That works fine once you get to the village. And had I done this pre-CU then I could have a much lower combat level and complete the quests. But, post-CU, the village is gated by a level 75 / level 77 double spawn ambush that pops into existence very close and without warning.I can't see how anyone with a double-crafting template can get over that hurdle without logging on inside their house, and waiting for a level 80 double-elite-combat player to come and bodyguard you every moment you are out and about in the world until the ambush happens.

To me, that seems excessive.

I am guilded, and I do have guildies that have the punch to get through this. The problem is that I have to be pinned to their coattails every moment I am out of my house / NPC City because if the ambush spawns, they *will* one-shot incap me. Even if I do the solo group thing in artifically increase my combat level, my damage output is nothing compared to theirs. I won't be one-shotted, true. But it won't take much more than three or four.

My point was that, while the FS side of things was always pretty gated, it is moreso now by an order of magnitude. Before you could buff so you could survive the warren or whatever and let your friends do the fighting. With the ambush difficulty being set so high, anyone who is not a double-elite combat template is going to have a very hard time getting past this. Plus the cycle repeats every few days. Not a fun time, and I think it needs to be looked at.

Getting to the village should be tough. It should involve combat (and tough combat). The camp can be tough without gating the village so terrbily for the crafter. Because the with the Sith Shadow camp spawn, you pick the timeand know the place and can prepare/ bring reinforcements. You cannot with the ambush.

Guru,

According to another poster on the Force-Sensitive profession forum, Post-Cu but pre-RotW, the sith shadow ambush was 2 level 5 MOB's. Post RotW, they spawned at level 75 and 77 respectively. I can't confirm this, but the person who posted said he had two accounts go glowie, one after the Cu but before RotW came out, and one account the day RotW came out. Narrows the problem a lot, if you happen to be in discussions with the DEV's. Looks like a /bug.

I feel your pain, but take heart. I just finished FS with Master Artisan, Master DE, Master Rifle. Mostly Pre-CU yes. But you can do six columns without fighting.

Adv. BLL chasis to grind out crafting in no time. If not them then ADFs.

Senses Tree - Merchant - slow but will get you there. Or if you dont mind tweaking the template, pick up Novice Weaponsmith, and smuggler and slice CDEF stuff in mass. This is how I finished Luck.

You can also do combat. Just have to do it in groups. If you aren't guilded I suggest you join one.

May the Force be with you.

Wait, are you saying the two sith waypoint camps thugs are at that level? That is insane! They were pansies before CU. I one shot killed them being unbuffed with HS3 before. Boggles the mind. Well if you were on Wanderhome I'd come over there and help you with that (before I quit).

I have no idea what level the sith camp guys are - I haven't actually been able to beat the first ambush yet. They showed up again last night and two-shotted me (one from each sith shadow) before I could even register what was going on.

My suggestion is this, next time you log. Log in your home or out in a guild hall away from a city. If you have a friend who is CL 80 or so have them set up to meet you at that location the follwing day when you log in. Then group up and walk out in the open for a while, hopefully the sith shadows will jump you with your guard by your side and you can avoid the one shot incap and take them out. If that works you should be able to proceed accordingly to the next mission which is attack the camp, which you can have help with and still complete. If you don't have a friend who is a high CL character you might try setting up the scenario via your galaxy forum. I know it is a hard way to do it but at least once you get the notice to investigate the village the siths will stop harassing you randomly.

My bodyguard made the mistake of killing them after they had incapped me once. So they took my force crystal, but I got the datadisk. I cant read it, it says I am unable to understand the data. The problem is I think the old man will not come back because we killed the shadows. So I cant read the disk and no more old man. I sent in a ticket, but no answer yet.

Hopefully the old man should reappear to give you another force crystal, but send the ticket anyway. Also check your quest log and see if it updated after the firstwave was killed.

To the original poster:

I have a friend who is going through this EXACT same situation now. First and foremost, I can assure you that the Old Man will indeed come back. He came back that same day for my friend. Of course my friend spent that day shuttling back and forth trying to trigger him, and it worked.

Anyway, I protected him once, and same thing. He lost the crystal, got the disk, couldnt read it.

But it will work out. Give it some time, and try to get some bodyguards. I have to say I didnt think he was serious when he called for help the first time. I also remembered my first Sith Shadow encounter after the old man, and how I basically breathed on them and they fell over. LOL...they almost kicked the hell out of me when I was on protection duty. Wasnt expecting it.

One suggestion I might give you is to travel in armor, and keep parwan nutricake hotkeyed. That way if they jump you, you will have time to burstrun and call for help. Might buy you some time for reinforcements to show up.
