What I DON'T like is this chat poster...but that's off topic.

Anyway, although the servers are down, I was able to see the update notes in the client, and I really like this Practice Crafting.

For those who haven't seen it, you use the resources, craft as normal, but don't get the item. What you DO get is a 5% xp bonus. It's still a kind-of-grind, but you don't have to destroy something that you can't sell, and you get a little bump to xp while you're at it.

Moving in the right direction, I think.

It's a nice option I spose...

I would rather have no items to destroy though. Isn't it a bit of a cop out that the Devs have effectively admitted that some of the items they have given us to make are in fact not of any use to people. In the future I'd like to see more items added for us to make, weapons and armour should be more distinct in their stats too so as to make them all have a place in the game.

Sounds to me like a great idea, but remember that 5% is an extremely small number. If you get 65 points for making an item, then you'd only get another three for practice crafting. When you're in that mind-numbing grind from eng IV to whatever elite profession you're going for, 5% seems like a drop in the ocean. But hey, anything is better than nothing, I suppose.

Basic items are of use to newbies, but as Artisans we cant sell them - due to the volumes being produced by people grinding them out.

This should reduce supply more in line with demand and increase the prices......lets hope

I agree, and suggested a similar idea in a previous post. Of course there's no way to tell yet if this will work as intended., but I can't see it being other than a 'good thing' all around. The small XP bonus and time saved destroying items to clear inventory space will make grinding a lot easier. And for those of us who like to try and sell what we make, hopefully this will stop the power grinders flooding the market with cheap goods.

Well done SOE. Provided it actually works, of course

This is true! Hadn't thought of it like that! If it does then that is a good thing...

For novice architect, thats 1000 less experience to craft.

Not exactly a drop in the bucket in my book.

Servers just came up, and I gave it a try.

Where is this "Practice" mode supposed to be turned on ? /practice doesn't do anything, and I see no question or tick box regarding turning on "Practice Mode".

Anyone have any luck ?
