Thread: Macro sampler transitioning to harveters
1) Do you actually have to visit each harvester to supply power, maintenance, and pick up your resources?
2) Do the wind generators need to be physically close to the harvesters?
3) Aren't there solor powered generators as well? How do they compare to the wind gens?
4) What is a reasonable price for medium harvesters?
5) Where can you buy them? (anyone have any for sale on Wanderhome?)
Thx,
STP
1) Yes.
2) No, but it makes life a lot easier if you're not trekking 2k meters between all your harvesters and wind generators.
3) Yes. I've heard that the efficiency of the solar gens is about 60% greater than wind...in other words, you'll get 60% more power in teh same amount of time. I don't have any solar gens so I don't know for sure.
4) I've seen them go for 15k.
5) Architects make them.
Hope that helps out a little bit.

OK, so there is a way around the patch so you can continue to macro sample without the popups. However, after reading the "WHAT!?!?!? Cant sample worth crap anymore!!!'" thread the harvester group has made me realize the error of my ways. ;-) To the folks who so strongly advocated the use of harvesters could you answer some simple questions please?

1) Yes, I visit each of them, but I set the Credits/Power to alternate, so that I can visit a small group of them in one visit per every few days.
2) No, Wind generators can be any where. You transfer the power manually.
3) Solars are like Wind, they go any where and you move the power to the harvester.
4) Medium goes for 15k/cr - 20k/cr, for Mineral. Often 3k-6k more for any other type.
5) Lots of Architects have them for sale by direct order.
I used to Macro Sample. But with 5 Harvs, I could mine 10k resources a day. Sell it all, and make 25k-30k a day, and still have free time to do other stuff.
I made 240k in a week, and this was after 3 days of running my first few harvesters.
Hi Setac, I am glad that you are willing to try this out! I am certain that you will be glad you did. First, there is an excellent resource at www.swgcraft.com called the resource calculator, there's a link to it on the left side of the page. It will tell you the power and maintenance required for various harvesters along with your expected output.
As of this time, you do have to visit each harvester in person for power, maintenance and resource retrieval. I have 8 harvesters and I spend about 1/2 hour each time I do this...sometimes daily, sometimes every other day.
The wind harvester does not need to be near the other harvesters but it certainly makes things easier. There are solar generators, they cost a great deal more than the wind generators and they cost twice as much to maintain but they also output twice as much. The benefit is they only take up 1 lot space and yield twice the resource.
Medium harvesters, well the price will vary greatly. You can buy them from an architect. For the personal harvesters and wind harvesters you only need to find an engineer from the artisan line. I hope this helps!
1.) Yes, you do have to visit for power, money and retrieving resources. It is possible, if you have enough, to pay power and money for a long period of time so you do not need to visit everyday. However the resources move frequently and you cannot pull the power and maintenance out, so you have to find the "comfort zone" for yourself.
2.) No, they do not HAVE to be close. It is very convenient if they are, as wind generators even on a 25% vein do gather a good amount of wind.
3.) No idea. Cannot find anyone on my server selling solar yet. Sorry
4.) I would post a thread in your server forum, and watch them come running!
Hope this helps.
"Medium mineral extractors will run you about 15-25k
Medium Chemical / Gas = 40-55k
Solars = 22k
Fusion = 100-150k
Heavy extractors 100-200k depending on type."
Is that more what i should expect to pay? Also, I assume I would buy a wind gen from an artisan as well?
Hey, if any of you happen to be on the Wanderhome server and have harvesters for sale please shoot me an email (SeTacPot). Heading to Tahoe after work today but I will be back Saturday afternoon.
Thx again for your respones....they are very helpful

The guy must have thought he meant heavy.
That's the price for a heavy.
Either that or he's an idiot.
The prices you have there are reasonable (alothough I wouldn't pay 200k for a heavy, more in the 110-150 range.)
It says (for sm harvester) it takes 25/hr or 600/day for power. The one I set up this moring takes 30/hr. Or does the power usage change for some reason?
SeTac, those prices sound about right, depending on your server. They are close to what I charge on Gorath.
For the guy who sai he pays 15-20k per day for harvesters, keep in mind that's for a full load of 10 mediums, which cost 1500 cr per day maintenance.
An artisan can make all the low end ones. You can buy those for 1000-2000. If you are starting out and aren't loaded, that is a good way. If you are an artisan you can make your own for about 500, but the quantiies are a little larger so sometimes its just best to pay someone for their time.
Mediums and Larges aren't very economic unless you fill your lots up.
I sell the harvesters (personal) for 750 cr and wind-generator for 1500 cr
Todoboffin, if you're willing to make the trek to Talus, at 4028,4203 you will find my shop, it has a solar gen for sale, 10k ![]()
I highly recommend the use of the www.swgcraft.com harvester calculator for any math you have to do ![]()
