Im tryn to make repair tools for armor/weapons/droids. as a master arts i can make 2 of the 3 optional componets. Does anyone know why we cant tell the diff. in description of tools that are made of just steel and ones w/ the options installd? What effect does each control or do all optional accessories have to be installd to work correctly as the best tool? I've seen a wide range in price for completed units form 50 cr to 1000cr. how is the end user supposed to know i've assembled a fully complete tool w/ all options or 2 options , and how much better it would be? any thoughts would be a great help.

i was wondering if i build a repair tool with all the parts(ie:control mod, storage, and sensors) is it any better than one without all the stuff. Will it repair better, last longer, or anything. Or is it jsut cheap way to charge more credits?

SO does anyone have an idea as to the answer to this?

"Will it repair better, last longer, or anything. Or is it jsut cheap way to charge more credits?"

Obviously. Why wouldn't it? Where did you come up with the hair-brained idea that people would just put the extras on it to charge more credits?

Wow Boreal,

Guy just asked a simple question. There are a lot of them every day. There was no need to flame him. Please take the attitude somewhere else. Its not needed or appreciated.

We are here to help.

P.S. There is a LONG list of things in this game that didn't work as intended. Where have you been.

yeah i just found out that i have been wasting 80 credits on the "premium auctions" and they don't work. i'm trying to play a crafter without fighting(only for self defense) at all. let me tell you credits are tight at the begining. i hope things pick up.

I'll also point out that adding the optional parts when crafting gives more crafting XP as well.

I have crafted an armor repair kit, each individual piece using high quality materials to the relevant stats, (iirc at least 850 on all of them), so the kit and all the options were all high quality and experimented, as well as the final assembled product. I then tried to repair someone's bone armor, and it failed miserably. Not only that, but that final product looked no different than an armor repair kit made from 15 units of crap metal. I am guessing they are broke, or they would at least give some way to tell a high quality one from one that is crud. Maybe an armorsmith needs to use a crap one and a good one to see a difference, maybe I'll try that at a later date.

What line of skills will a person with a Weapons Repair Kit have? I have two pistols on corbantis that are in desperate need of repair, I've found a weaponsmith and he didn't have one, and either did amaster artisan. Any help would be appreciated.

Both could have crafted a repair tool in seconds and then used it to repair your gun.A basic one doesn't require a ton of materials.

Higher quality repair kits do make better repairs. A higher quality one might only remove 50 pts where a low quality might remove 100 or more points from total condtion.

There seems to be a bug however with items being destroyed to a high degree if they are complex. Either that or we don't totally understand the repair process.

I haven't used the optional parts, so I'm not srue what they do. I remember reading things by the devs before launch about needing some resource that the item was made out of to do repairs. Perhaps that is what the storage compartment is for.

Personally haven't noticed enough difference to justify time & cost of the extra parts... my jaw dropped when I broke this down... check this out...

Based on resources costing 10CR/unit to ensure break even at worse case (having to purchase all your resources at the prices you see gougers trying to get) heres how an armor repair tool breaks down with all bells & whistles installed.

raw resources 150

control unit 310

micro sensor suite 1210 (w/ distributor)

droid storage compartment 230

grand total = 1900... now cut this in half and you charge 5 credit/resource unit and still looking at 1000 credits for a tool that doesn't seem to do much better than ones I make for just the 150. Based on this info I would urge the DEVs to greaten the difference in performance of tools containing any or all of the extra electronics. Seems like any weapon or armor is as likely to fall apart once under 50% condition and that's something I would think a high quality tool should handle. Do the math.
