Yeah from what i can tell quality doesnt seem to help much with the repair tools. Matter fact I wont even touch anything with those tools everythingi do dusts on me. and im MA, DE; you would think i would have enough skill to use these with successful results more than once out of ten trys.

even if the quality does matter, it doesn't show up enough to make an obvious difference... no need to have to go and test it 100 times... the deal is all repair tools don't work well once an item's condition goes under 50%... they're all liable to fall apart then

I am looking for any experiences or information on repair tools.

I recently made a Weapon Repair tool. I put in all the bells and whistles - all options. Experimented on it, and it came out at over 99% functionality. This took nearly 200 resources.

Made another one, without all the options - takes only 15 resources - and experimented on it - got over 98% functionality.

How will these two repair tools compare when actually repairing weapons? Is there a real difference when putting in the options? And just how effective are repair tools?

And what would be the going rate on these things? I sold that first one for 3k in a matter of a few hours (in the middle of the night).

I have made a few 94% weapon, armor and clothing repair crates. There have been about 2 failures so far but I haven't seen many problems. Most of the time I have gotten the desired "minor blemish" result. What problems have you had ? Just curious.

Does anyone else have a problem with repairing items being seemingly so random? I personal think the repair process is a bit buggy or not thoroughly thought out. I've had straight composite armor less than 1% damaged fail completely using a Repair Tool with an FR of 99.10899%..... and during the same period of time, repaired a Composite helmet that had 1 dmg point left out of 20k+, and it repaired with only minor belmishes......

It just seems too "random" like gambling..... My thought is it should be based on the percentages, take the repair tool's FR rating percent, and subtract the percentage of damage from that. This would be your reduced Chance of Repair. (ie 99% tool - 5% dmg to item = 94% chance of success). Based on this Chance of Success, the quality of the repair should be brought from this #. For example you successfully repair the item under your 94% chance, out of that 94%, say 75-94% = Repaired only minor blemishes, 35-75% repaired with a reduction in overall dmg points.. and anything under 35% should be a 50/50 toss random generation as to failing completely or a lucky repair with reduction.

Maybe I'm crazy, but that type of formula would make more sense and would seem more realistic, I mean after all if an item is 5% or less damaged, repairing it should be a breeze for anyone....

Is there ANY information out there as to how these things work, as it certainly doesn't seem to be affected by the person using it. I myself am a Master Artisan and still fail repeatedly on items that really shouldn't..

Thoughts, Ideas, links, suggestions?

Thanks,

I have had sililiar problems with both armor and weapons. I use 99+ tools and it never seems to work. I thought that maybe you had to be a weaponsmith to repair weapons or an armorsmith to repair armor. I am neither which is why I though it was always failing.

Early in the game.... it did not matter WHO repaired your weapon... only that the tool was of the best quality.

About 3 months or so later a change in game was made so that the specific professions such as weaponsmith and armorsmith had the best chances of sucessfully repairing your weapons and armor.

Since that change.... it would seem to me as a Master Weaponsmith having done plenty of repairs.... things are working as intended...

Armorsmiths.......it flat out sux. Not only does armor repair less often and less sucessfully before that patch.... being a armorsmith seems to make ZERO difference in the repair, in fact it may even be worse.

Seems to me the odds are increased just by standing next to the appropriate crafting station.
