Thread: Artisans just remember (about vehicles and mount)
Some of you may have noticed the outrageous prices _some_ CH's are charging to supply/train mounts.
Now I'm not trying to price fix here or rip people off, I'm just suggesting that Artisans everywhere be mindful of the CH's engaging in this........
because when the vehicles hit the Artisan Engineering tree next month you'll know who to return the favour to :-)
Thinking about it, vehicles should logically cost more than a mount does. I expect to be selling my vehicles for a pretty credit at first. Rightly so, as well. You can't expect to buy a speeder from me Vehicle Release Day #1 for 10,000 credits. Expect at least 100,000 if not 250,000 or much more.
Well this is about the most counterproductive thing I've heard to community relations yet.
Reallyyes they are charging too much but that IS because people were shouting at the top of their lungs that they were willing to pay 100k-300k or more in some cases...
It was really very very sad.
Roogah
Yes, minerunner your exactly right. The only reason they were being sold so high is because people was willing to pay high prices. I myself had a mount that i was saving until the release of mounts and when I first logged on to the server I only saw them being sold for about 25k - 60k. About 2 hours after I got my kaadu mounted, I saw people screaming I'll pay 90k, 100k, 120k or more". One guy offered me 60k for mine and I jumped at the chance to sell it since it cost me 500 credits for my kaadu of the bazaar and a couple thousand credits to get him trained and mounted. As I waited for the guy to come back with his cash. Another guy offered to pay 120k, so I said what the hell.......I sold it to him for 120k. Meanwhile I could go right back to the bazaar and find another kaadu for about 1000-3000c and let him grow for a couple of days and have my mount back with 120k in my pocket. Not very smart for those guys, but hey I guess if you want it bad enough you'll pay.
Now if vechiles start going for higher prices than 100k, I only wonder how much x wings and space ship will go for. Personally, I think that the prices on just about everything in the game is way out of control. Although, I suspect that mounts will drop once their are enough of them to go around. Afterall they won't be as rare as holocrons in about a week.
I'm not sure I see what's sad or counterproductive about mounts going for 100-300k so soon after release. It's supply and demand in a free market system, and that'sa Good Thing. If people want to pay that much and have the cash, good for them; no one is being hurt and there's norational reason tolimit this activity. (Some maywant to prevent such transactions out ofjealousy ora misguided notion of "fairness," but those aren't rational motivations.)
The only point at which thiscould be a problem is ifitstops being the price that buyers are offering, and starts being the price that sellers are charging. As long aswe're not charged too much beyond a reasonable profit (based on the seller's actual costs), there's no problem. Yes, sellers will probably try to retain the high prices once the rich folks all get their mounts, but that won't last long. The reduction in demand will shortly bring prices down, since no buyers (at too high a price)meansno income at all. Even more powerful is the fact that once most folks have mounts, themarketplaceofbuyers will bethe occasionalnew player and those few who get bored with their current mounts. Like architects, mount sellers will modify their prices to meet the lower actual demand when the market is saturated. (I don't think the game will permit the "Detroit system" of a slightly improved model every "year" to artificially create substitution buying.)
So where's the problem here?
The only question I have is: who'll get to craft vehicles? Will there be a new profession, or will Artisans get new skills? In other words, who gets to stick it to the creature trainers who foolishly try to gouge us now? ![]()

oo, are you sure artisan's are getting the vehicles in the engineering tree?
Me, I can't wait to find out what ingredients I need to stockpile for this.
Supply and demand, what I liek about this game is it maps real life.. as the demand drops i.e everyone has a ride / mount then so do the prices..
A thought however, have Sony considered that the markets could colapse, if the likes of us blitz the market with cheap vehicles... god I love this game...
Gimme a break. When you start making vehicles on day1 and ppl are screaming "BUYING A SWOOP FOR 500K!!!!!!" like yer gonna say, "Oh my, I'm gouging the poor fellow for selling that high, lemme see if he only wants to pay 75K". Yeah right, LOL!!
I'm cooking 2 spats for a cpl nonCH'ers right now for 25K apiece. I doubt it takes you guys 3-6 days to 'cook' a swoop when they come out.
Some of you guys need to stop blaming us for 'your' impatience. Wait a few days and you'll see the prices drop drastically.
Some of you at least have your head screwed on and understand EXACTLY why prices were high on day1 and day2.
You are very right. The prices did drop with in a day or so on the bloodfin server, at least where I am at. Sure there are some ch's who are still charging outrageous prices, but very few if any buy for that kind of price. Personally, when I make something, I only charge for the resources I use, and usually only at a 3:1 ratio. I don't gouge and I don't expect others to gouge. Think of what you would want you would feel as reasonable if you were the buyer and charge that. If that happened, many people would be happier and there would be a greater spread of wealth (spoken like a true poor boy).
there going to release vehicles so that if you have just the engineering of artisan you can make vehicles?
I tried very hard not to rip people off while selling mounts - (I sold my prepared mounts for 10k each)
However, I had people /shout will pay 200K for a fully grown mount!
Whom am I to not give the masses what they want?
My goinf rate for mounts will be significantly less depending on how much it costs me to obtain the creature in the first place.
I am also looking forward to crafting vehicles as well. I have heard that one vehicle will be in the Engineering 4 tree and one (or more?) would be Master Artisan only. I am covered either way!
I guess I will end up being the Star Wars equivalent of GM!
Its interesting to see so many people get their panties ina bunch over my post.
So I'll say it again for those that didnt read it properly the first time
I'm _suggesting_ that Artisans just keep in mind which CH's are charging outrageous prices for mounts. I'll accept that in many cases the buyer is/was driving the price up but thats not what I'm talking about here, I'm talking about CH's who are charging outrageous prices from the word go regardless of supply/demand/customer, and I'm suggesting that Artisans might want to return the favour to these individuals when the vehicles arrive (but for everyone else the prices will be realistic)
Only the guilty need fear this :-)
are they going to introduce a new engineer tree or what? like what specific tree will it be under. I have engineering IV and i dont know what to take to make vehicles next month
