Thread: Vehicles being moved to Master Artisan.

Lame, sounds like you master artisans get to soak in the money like the Creature Handlers did when mounts were released.
I guess if I want a vehicle I better get out that money duping guide and get to work!
That wasn't that fault of the creature handlers that peeps were begging to pay 300K the first weekend mounts were out when they could have bought a baby the week before and had it growing in their datapads and ready to train on patch day. It's not the fault of the creature handlers that their customers are stupid and don't plan in advance. If you paid an insane price for your mount, it's because you didn't plan ahead and lacked patience to wait until the demand dropped - none of that is the fault of the creature handlers.
On that note, I'm starting to save up resources now (and I've bought a factory) so I'll be ready to start producing vehicles on patch day. Probably 10-15K will be a reasonable price. Will there be peeps spamming the starport beggin to pay 300K? You betcha! Will I take their 300K? You betcha - for as long as I sell out at that price. Explain to me again what I'm doing wrong?
Guess I spoke to soon, sorry about that folks.
There are several Master Artisans in the PA I am in though so hopefully they will put maybe the more popular one in Master.

Or wait until the price drops to something you are willing to pay. Things are only worth what you are willing to pay for them. I know people have all these silly formulas for how to price things fairly but to be honest the only one that counts is "Does it sell at the price I put it on the market for?" Heck I make 95% weapon repair tools, my total investment is around 125 per tool. They seem to sell real well at 1000-1250 per depending on planet. Could I sell them for more? I expect so but at this range they sell at a rate that allows me to spend one play session a week crafting and the other 2 or 3 doing other stuff. Believe me since there are no cartels/monopolies or an effective way to create them it is real hard for craft types to force people to pay more than they are willing to for an item.
Engineering 4 is too easy to get. The only reason to get master artisan is if you are a DE. This would make it worthwhile for other people to get.
AND it would keep everyone and their brother from becoming engineer's for a week to make themselves a vehicle and then dropping it!
BTW- Help out the DE's and require the vehicles to use some DE components.

crud :'( i just dropped master today becuase it was the biggest waste of skills for me to just make bird cages, oh well i kept the engineering tree i'll just gogrind againagain. hmm surveying... all over again.
By the way, that is a bug list, a list of REPORTED bugs in the system, this does not mean they are going to move it to Master.
You have to understand what this is all about, this is a list of things that they are acknowledging that people have said is wrong with the system. It does not mean these are all going to be fixed and some of these things may be things that are working as planned.
This is why many of you do not get chosen for beta testing games, you cannot tell the difference between a known bug list and a patch list.
I too hope that they'll move vehicles into the Master box. I think that there should be a tangible reward for those who spend Apprenticeship points and skill points on a mastership. A good example is the Master Tailor box, that offers exotic new items of clothing and coloring options, which are in hot demand. Master tailoring is well worth getting.
Master Artisan is the opposite: this box offers very little except a fancy title. It would be nice if these player vehicles would be moved into the Master box.
As for price gouging: Artisan is at the bottom of the skill tree... there are plenty of Master artisans around, and I would be surprised if the price would not drop sharply after a few days. And even if it doesn't...
I got my Bio-eng'ed mount trained on Farstar when the entire server had just 2 (!) CH's able to do the job. I paid 15K for the privilege of a minute of the CH's time, and this at a time when I was still training as Artisan and very low on cash. But that 15K was well worth being able to move about faster, and I still enjoy the use of my trusty mount to this day. If Artisans want to play the market for a few days and charge premium prices, I say let them. Players will be happy to pay a lot for such eminently useful items.
Personally, I'll charge normal prices... It looks like these vehicles take 1200-2000 of very common resources. Cost in materials is 3600-6000 at 3cpu (a normal market rate), so if a player is strapped for cash, I'll be able to offer a vehicle at 5k. That's affordable even to newish players, and still makes me a profit.
"Heck yeah it is. Scarcity = High Price. I'll happily sell every vehicle I make for the maximum I can convince someone to pay. On day one I imagine I'll be able to charge pretty much what I want. Eventually the market will be saturated enough that prices will drop to some more or less standard level. Until that happens though I'll be trying to milk every credit I can from people who are desperate for vehicles. The completely free and unregulated market is a beautiful thing. (at least in a game)"
With 25% of players being artisans, I think this is a pipe dream. But if ya got something good to put in your pipe, knock yourself out. I expect prices for a standard vehicle to be around 1 to 2k. Special experiemented versions would fetch a little higher. Some folks may give away a few of their vehicles. You might be able to find some poor sop who will pay more but I figure them to be few and far between. I think the real money will be in hosting (and winning) vehicle races. BIG events. That's my take on it all.
Best of luck and Happy Holidays
