Greetings fellow Artisans. I have a proposal which will benefit all artisans in the game. I feel that there should be a way to get more lots for placing harvesters and what not and that the artisan skill should be the skill to benefit from this. It would work similar to how vendors work with merchants.
For example say at Surveying 1 you would get +1 to lots. Then at surveying 2 another +1 to lots. When you hit surveying 4 you would get +2 to lots and finally Master artisan would get another +2 to lots for a total of 5 extra lots.
I would like to hear everyones comments on this and maybe if we get a positive reaction from enough players the devs might consider this change.

I love this idea. As a Master Artisan/Master Doctor, I have never had enough lots to adequately supply all my resources while still being able to maintain a home and shop. I've had to go the route of using lot whores. With an additional 5 lots, I think it would be possible for me to run my business and my harvesters without needing a lot whore.
This idea gives artisans a distinct advantage in harvesting, but unlike harvester certifications, it doesn't make it impossible for others to rent out/make money from their lots for harvesting. Another great thing about this is that it increases the Artisan's ability to effectively run a business without "overpowering" him by giving him too much extra space on the server.
Great idea...now if we can only convince the Devs to work it in.

I think this is a fair idea. Prehaps I would rather see the first additional lot at survey II and 1 more lot at survey III, IV, and 2 lots at Master Artisan. I would rather people spend those few extra skill points to get the benifit of an extra lot to help keep them commitied to harvesting.

Grand idea! I like it. Alot.
Just one problem...
That would endanger SOE's income in the fact that people that have second accounts (or more) specifically for the lot space wouldn't need those accounts anymore, and few people would get extra accounts. While it may not be a very large percentage of multi-account owners, they do exist. And eliminating that is something they won't do, no matter how small a dollar amount they'd be losing. 
I do like the way you think though, for what it's worth.

this had been brought up and suggested before...last time ittook alot of heat from the "miner" population... personally I couldgo for it.....

Well between needing a house for storage and lots for harvesting I like this idea. I feel all crafters need more lots and more home storage.

Nice response so far. As for the "two accounts thing" I agree it might cost them a little money but not enough to matter. Players that still have more then one account will more then likely keep them so instead of 15harvs they now have 30!
Lets just hope the devs are picking up on our hints!

i dont see how extra lots relates to being an artisan or to surveyingthus i think such a thing would be unfair. no one has enough lots, thats life for everyone.extra lots is just too big an advantage.

Its very simple actually artisans need lots of resources to craft with so that we can make stuff for non crafters. That is how having more lots for harvesters so we may obtain resources to craft stuff is related to an artisan. Also every skill has its advantages to me artisan doesn't really have any good ones.

I agree with this proposal as well. I waste a lot of time juggling an extra harvestor and my factories.

dont doctors also need a lot of resources to make the various medicines and packs they have? should they too get extra lots?

I would have to say not really no. But if they wanted the extra harvesters then they could go up the Surveying tree under Artisan.

That would be the incentive for going up the Survey tree. The pluses to surveying don't really do a whole lot, so unless you're mastering artisan, survey is just about worthless. Extra lots, if it's even 2-3, would make a huge difference.
