Thread: How good are your crafting tools?

Greetings!

I have been practicing crafting by experimenting on my crafting tools. When I started, my tools all had a negative effective rating... around -11 or -12. Now I finally crafted my first tool with a positive rating: 0.79

I was just wondering if anyone else has coninuted to upgrade their tools as their skill increased. If so, what is the effective rating on your tools?

It depends on the ingredients you use and the experimentation you are able to do to them.

I've gotten up to +12.72 so far

I'm using 960 Cond metal (the chem doesn't seem to matter) which gives me 96% experimentation or 13.86 tools.

I remade my tools last night with 998 conductivity copper, fully experimented to 99%. They're at 14.94.

The lower the condition of the crafting tool and (if you use them) the crafting station, the more chance you have of a critical failure. Negative, of course, is worse than positive.

assuming you had all 1000 conductivity copper and adequate experiment points you should be able to produce a +15 tool.

The limit you can raise the experimental effectiveness regardless of experimentation points is determined by your materials...which is why the people posted that they used 960 copper got a max of 96% experimental effectiveness. It would take CD of 1000 to get 100% exper.eff

if you just happened to get experimental effectiveness of 50% you theoretically could predict a tool of 0.0 on a scale of +/- 15.0

I think the game rounds or truncates some of the displayed numbers though, because the result always seems to be like 0.1 or so off of what you would expect.

darn no edit...

As to what you would expect from a good tool, every time I have access to a better copper I remake all my tools. I have noticed as my tools steadily improve, I am getting more Great and Amazing successes and less fails. I haven't done a statistical study or anything, just my impression.

Evening,

Well I have all my tools at 14.94.

Hoping that they will relase something that has a higher conduct than 998 right now (Ya I know I'll see it when banthas fly, but I still hope)

I think the better your tools the better you chances are for an amazing result, can't prove it really but I tend to get more of them now days).

Also it helpsyou get a little better if you make more effective crafting stations for your guild or house and use those. My guess the ones in town are at 0.00 effectivness.

Hopefully it actually matters what the tools effectivness is, it might not be fixed yet. Guess I'll have to check the dev board for the answers tonight.

I decided to settle for 14.49 on all my crafting tools & 98% survey instruments. I've got 8K of that copper, so it should last me for a while.

Mine are all at 14.94 as well, also made with 998-conductivity copper. I haven't noticed any difference. Some say you have a reduced chance of critical-failure, but I haven't seen it (very subjective).

I've got mine at 14.46. What's the name of that copper that the fellow Chilastrian artisans are using?
