Thread: I made approx 1 million today selling vehicles at 3.5 cpu, stop complaining.
sold 350 vehicles at 6.5 and was very happy, since most architects end up buying my resources for 4 or 5 cpu.
I usually sell 300k plus stacks and I guess they don't want to pay more for them. I won;t be selling to them anymore I'll sell them myself.

I'm not surprised they have had to come back. High quality resources sell for a lot more than 3.5 cpu. Sounds to me (I could be wrong) like you are making low durability vehicles using low quality resources. If that's not the case, why would you sell vehicles for 3.5 cpu when you could sell the resources at substantially lower risk and effort for more money? Even crap resources are selling for 3cpu and up on all 3 servers where I have characters. So you're maximum profit over just selling the resources is .5 cpu?
If your answer is: "I mine the resources for <.5cpu, so my profit is 3 cpu", then economics is something you just have yet to get a handle on ![]()
No disrespect, this is an honest question: Do you understand the basic business concept of time/value of money? Or Value Added calculations?
You may just be out to capture market share and eliminate competition. That is a valid reason for pricing your product at what is, effectively, a loss. A business entitiy that engages in those practices will basically run the competition out of business, and then bend their customers over when they have a "captive market". If that's what you're doing, go for it. It's not going to work, but whatever floats your boat ![]()

The guy doesn't even understand opputunity cost, do you really think he understands value added calculations?
To the original poster - I hope you were using crap material, because anything other than grinding metal sells for over 3.5cpu by itself, let alone crafted into one of the most sought after items in game yesterday.
Me, I made 400K in half an hour selling quality speeders at around 7cpu. I could've made more, but there have been too many good resource spawns (disafoc neutronium, akade carbonite, dantooine fiberplast) for me use up my lotsharvesting materials for an unknown commodity.
I made over a mil yesterday selling speeders starting off at 8 cpu in the first hour. When more people realized the servers were up and the cities were getting crowded with Master Artisan's, I dropped down to 6cpu, then 5. Since I used quality metals (over 900 SR) I couldn't go below 5cpu and still make a profit. But there were still people selling for 2 and 3 cpu, peddling crappy products, and ruining the market for everyone else. I agree with Iwishiwasanewok, this was the first time that Master Artisans could have made some real money, but people using crappy metal, selling crappy products killed the market. I'm not complaining because I still made a good amount of money, but we ALL could have made alot more if people wern't going so low.
As long as youre making more than the amount of money you would make selling the resources, then its all good.
However - in the case of eclipse, high end resources sell for 10cpu or more quite readily on the open market, so would you rather get 3.5cpu for the resources in the vehicles, and risk the crit fails and bad experiments, or 10cpu for selling the resources with a rapid turnaround ?
Even 3cpu for the resources will be easier to sell in the long run rather than 3.5cpu for vehicles as its an almost immediate sale (no stocks to worry about, you let it all go in one fell swoop) and theres no risk involved in the aforementioned critical fail/bad experimentation.
Unless I can make a 50% profit on the cost of making something (which includes the resources at the market value of them, not the dig up value) its not worth the added risks involved in the crafting/storing process.

I made 3 mill and sold less then 30 vehicles and you could have too if it werent for a bunch of idiots who dont understand supply and demand
I dont need your 3 million, im happy with my 1, that more then enough for my needs, especially in one day. Why do people feel the need to line there bank accounts with money they'llnever spend? And im happy I was able to make a good profit providing quality vehicles and good prices to people who will most likly return in the future. How many of the people you rip offed you think will come back to you or tell your friends about great prices. Im building a business here with my eyes on space expansion vehicles and thats how im running/building my business, and making a killing doing it.
So what have I done wrong?
And I just have to say no way vehicles are worth over 100k because of all the factors mentioned elsewhere, even the well crafted ones, because 300 hp doesnt make all that much difference. Artisan is a basic profession, your not supposed to be able to make elite type CPU, even at master.
I hope those people remember you when space expansion comes out ..... and if you think vehicles are going to be some huge repeat buisness your wrong. The fact is Artisans for the first time could have made some decent cash and people like you selling or 3.5 cpu blew it for the rest of us. Not sure why you people are afraid to MAKE money and are content with just scratching by

To me 1 million isnt just scratching by. And I respectfully disagree on your opinion that vehicles wont be a repeat business. Some people have already had to buy replacements.
