Thread: What to Craft at Engineering III?
Hi all,
I was wondering what to start crafting at Engineering III. I have been making Grips and Barrels up untill now, but they are only giving me 20exp. At this rate it will take me a long long time to gain 6,000 exp. Is there something that has a good return on the item you make?
Thanks
I was told to make full suits of bone armor if possible.... they return about 2k per full suit. Only difficulty is materials, but if you have a bit of extra cash (or you can go out and harvest some Iloe steel and start selling) then you can buy your materials and hit eng 4 in 3 suits of armor.
I just hit 3 last night, so i'm in the same boat as you. I did notice something interesting though, and I don't know if it's a bug. I've been getting a tiny bit of general crafting xp for my survey work. Last night I went and surveyed for about an hour... and in addition to the 2-3k survey xp that I made, I also gained about 100-150 crafting xp... And I didn't craft a **edit** thing. So maybe there is some kind of overflow, but I'm not too sure. All I know is, I got some small xp (nothing substantial but still) for just surveying and sampling.
Good luck to you.

You probably got UXP for people using stuff you sold on the bazaar.
Yea.... I wasn't sure on that either. I'm sitting at my desk at work right now, so I can't check those sorts of things. Thanks again.
40 GXP = 1 unit
6,000 GXP = 150 Units
Resources needed: 900 metal, 600 chemical
150 units @ 10 sec/unit = 1500 sec.
60 sec = 1 min
1500 sec = 25 min
Not bad considering how long it takes to climb other prof ladders.
Always keep your good resources though for experimenting and producing quality items.
I currently have one apprentice and am looking for one more if anybody wants to poke around on Theed with me and get trained.

"...I didn't like making armor, because (and this is just my opinion) I didn't think all the steps were worth the xp. I made skirts (I think they are called wrapped skirts). They gave 80xp, required only two resources, and were very simple and quick to make... ..."
When grinding, it's important to break up the repetition. A bone chest plate may seem like a poor choice for grinding but you get xp for the fiberplast panels as well as for the bone plates. Plus 300xp for the chest itself. While doing destroy missions to pay for my harvestors I collect hides and bones. The first thing I used to do was craft some bone armor. Even if you just do 5 chest plates we're talking about almost 2kxp. That's a great base to start a grind on.

Well, that's why I specified it's "my opinion". It's really a personal choice. Personally, I prefer to focus on one task, and do that for a while, instead of "breaking up the repetition". I can mine a bunch of resources (later, I got harvesters...), and then just focus on making something simple for an hour or so, just to grind out the xp. After that, I would go out and do something completely different (hunting, selling some of my resources I gather for the sole purpose of selling, other stuff....).
It got me to Master Artisan fairly easily IMHO.It may not be the "fastest" way to grind, but it was the best for me I think...
