Thread: SE Starship Prices
10c/u at minimal. this time, start with a high price since it will be a ton of resources required, most likely will have a ton of sub-components going in and it will be a hard grind before anyone can make them with high quality and low failure rates.
keep them rare, unlike vehicles. dime a dozen.
Well, first off Artisans won't be making them.
Next, probably a whoooole lot of money. Let's face it. If Guild Halls take up thousands of resources, what do you think a Corellian YT Transport will take? I seriously doubt anywhere close to 50k or less. (and anyone that does charge that I'll personally hunt down and kill
)
But you want theory? Alright. Let's say a X-Wing takes 10,000 resources total. (now too bad since a landspeeder takes about 3k) Difficulty would be high, say around40. (Starships aren't easy to make y'know)If I go with 10cpu plus profit with my formula(check the vehicle pricing thread), it would run about 140k for a X-Wing. That's pretty close to what it is in the book and paper game, and not bad since technically X-Wings are only sold to the military. Sooo, if you weren't a pilot, I would prolly charge closer to 200k to cover any fines put on me by the government. ![]()
good stuff so far guys.
I know that artisans are probably not going to be able to build starships (if they did i would laugh my umm well you know off) however since artisan is the base for most crafting professions i figured i would get a good cross-section of crafting types here.
As for the rarety of starships i'm not so sureif someone is willing to lose one in a card game (even a high stakes one) then i'm not so sure about their absolute rarity. i'd compare them to a fishing boat, not to many families have one but they are not uncommon or unknown either.
I see 4 things keeping them rare, $50 for the expansion, ingame price, pvp combat, resources needed to build them. If the resources needed are rare that would also drive the price up, possibly a good way to control the number of ships.
SOE wants us all to be happy though so i forsee that atleast smaller ships such as fighters being as common as speeders and swoops are now.
here was my idea to get some of the crafters involved
LOL. Any fool with a harvester can dig up resources. You aren't paying for the resources, you're paying for the resources to be put together to make a starship.

all i can say is LOL who the hell would pay 20cpu for a ship...that's like buying 100 minerals on the bazaar.....
There has been talk and hints from the devs about a Starship Engineer profession, and I don't expect that not to go through. However they may make use of other professions too.
As far as ships costing 18,000, I'm pretty sure the Star Wars economy wasn't as ridiculous as the SWG economy. Heck, T21 Rifles cost 18k in this game. That's as much as a ship in Staw Wars. ![]()
And on the subject of ships costing over a million, remember the devs also stated they wanted to wait before releasing ships to give players a chance to "build up their credits". Hmmmm. ![]()
I'm not sure what I will charge, but I don't undercharge or overcharge. I have my system and I plan to stick with it regardless. Now on some military ships like Incom ships or TIE's, of course it will cost more. Those aren't civillian ships. But I wouldn't charge more than double cost for even those I imagine, but at the same time I plan to keep my prices comparable to the server I'm on if the server prices are higher.
