Thread: Vehicles For the Serious Master Artisan...
Second, neither am I in favour of 1 cpu vehicles...because it's stupid, when on most servers, even grind metals go for 3 cpu...
After all, what is the point of playing a game of commerce to lose? That is not the point of any game...
Third, in order to be fair to our customers, we should produce the best that we can. Weaponsmiths and Armoursmiths charge as they do because they produce items in need, and with the best properties they can impart on them...
At it's introduction stage, vehicles will have only 1 property that we can control...
My proposal is for every serious Master Artisan to aim for a 2.0k hit points minimum. This will require at a minimum 800 SR resources, and guarantee to YOUR customers a minimum quality of product.
This will act as a justification of price, and effectively differentiate us from the would be heroes using grind materials to bulk produce cheap, non-durable vehicles...
It will also differentiate the serious in-game industrialist from the dabbling amateurs...

I will try make vehicles with above 900 SRferrous metal. I cannot craft them with above 900 SR non-ferrous metal because I don't have it, but I have above 800 SR non-ferrous metal. I believe that this will give an average SR above 850 SR metal. IMHO, this is enough to make good vehicles, but I want have someday above 990 SR ferroues and non-ferrous metal to craft MAXIMUM hit points vehicles...![]()
These will have a higher price and will be "special edition" vehicles to customers that want to pay more to have the best vehicles. All the other vehicles will be charged 4 cpu + 20 % (wiht 2000 hit points minimal), but these will be 6 cpu + 20 % ( or more).
IMHO, only the serious in-game industrialists will survive at the vehicle market. When the first vehicles start to be destroyed by NPCs and creatures, the player community will learn to give valour to hihg hit point vehicles. And I intend make a name as a serious vehicle crafter that makes high hit points vehicles.
I ve seen miners charging upto 10cpu for metalsfor for metals in quantitiesof 10K or more. And Ive seen Some puting poor quality Metals on the bazaar for 3K to get only 400 units. Try to get enough resources to make alot of vehicles and see how long your credits hold out. Charge what you need to because one day you'll want to buy a really good weapon or piece of armour, then you need more than 30000 credits in the bank.

While I'd love to do that, with swgcraft.com being down, I have no idea where to find decent metal nor do I have the time to travel the galaxy looking for it. And, as someone has already pointed out, the Bazaar provides insuffient quantities to make vehicles. I only have low SR metals which I started hoarding when they told usit wasn't going to be a factor in the release.
So, my choices are:
1. Preserve the integrity of Master Artisans everywhere by simply selling my metals for 3 cpu...or
2. Make fistfuls of cash on garbage vehicles before people wise up to the hitpoint problem.
Hmm...what to do....I'll take the money.

Supply and demand.
Just like mounts, the prices will start high, start dropping and then level off. If you want the best deal, wait two weeks.
my understanding is that resource quality has nothing to do with the final vehicle product. I plan on using the crappiest of metals to get the job done, and whatever people are willing to pay is how much i'm selling them for..
period.
there is no way i'm letting this gold rush go by...
Wrong. Resource quality does matter.

I expect to offer both cheap, low Ham vehicles and good ones at high prices.
I think there is going to be a lot of interest in throw-away vehicles as people try them out to decide what they want. I don't know what I want, even though I have been reading about them. Is the extra speed of a swoop bike going to be worth the higher operating cost? Donno, will have to try and see.
The lack of a used car market is going to be nice for sales, you gotta junk it to replace it!
