Okay sorry, I dont know what happened but I pressed something on my keyboard and it posted it before I could type everything up, heres what I was trying to say.
Here's whats happened to me, I was surveying for some copper to grind out metal staffs for Weaponsmith. I was having a good day that day and found a 85% concentration of Codoan Copper. I put a grand total of about 25,000 credits and 10,000 power by the time this whole thing was over. After placing the extractors I went to bed, and Ilogged on the next day, to find that the codoan copper was no longer in the rotation, there was a new type and the concentration was no where as good as the previous Codoan Copper had been. Besides the fact this resource "System" if thats what SOE wants to call it, is extremely lame and random, is there any way I can find out how much longer there is on the resource or am I just going to spend the rest of my time wasting money and power for 18,000 units of resources???

No work, no reward.
If you want the good resource, you have to put in the work it takes to keep up with changing resource spawns.

would the inability to mine at all? b/c certainly by now if there was no resource shifted all the good spots would be taken and you would be SOL. "No work no reward" totally hits the nail on the head.

You should take a look on swgcraft.com to see for how long a resource has beenmarked as available.
If you see one out for more than 14 days, then you can expect it to disappear very soon.

I know its aggravating, but spare a thought for those of us looking for organic resources.
on my server, on swgcraft.com, they are between 12 and 50 days out of date
if you can help by adding to their database then, as the saying goes, every little helps

So you don't have one person camping a 95% spot of 500 CD 999 OQ duralloy steel with his 10 heavy mineral extractors along with 30 extractors borrowed from some of his guild friends. No rotation=no opportunity for new and upcoming crafting professionalss to get in on the good stuff.

Ever play A Tale in the Desert? They has a very similar "place a mine into the ground to extract resources" and they had NO resource rotation.
So when all the rare resources within you area were taken up by one guy, who if he decides to play, charges obscene amounts for his ultra rare metal...
Resource rotation is good.

Sounds like you got the tail end of that spawn. Spawn rotations are about 7 days (give or take).
Seriously, check out www.swgcraft.com . It's a fantastic site that keeps you in the loop on what has spawned, stats, where and for how old the spawn is.

One way to know how 'recent' a spawn is, would be to check the entire list of resources that are available once you place your harvester. The order of the listing will start with the most recent spawn up at the top, and the oldest spawn at the bottom. This will give you a rough idea of how long a spawn has been out there. If it's at the top of the list, you probably have at least 5 days to harvest as much as you can, if it's at the bottom, you probably want to pass on it.

Mineral, chemical, gas, and water (not sure on solar and wind) are usually 7-9 day spawns. Flora last longer - around 14 days or so. Yes, check with swgcraft.com on what is available on your server. I know Intrepid is kept pretty up-to-date but Flora and fauna tend to be behind on updates just due to the sheer numbers of different items that need to be checked. The fauna (hide/meat/bone)... I'm not sure on the spawn time but I'm thinking around 10-14 days.

I have to say, this makes me think again about going artisan... I'm not saying i'm not up to the work... but it just seems, if you go artisan you can't really do anything else. I was hoping to still be up for some fights... but now i'm thinking about it.
I also have had trouble with the respawn system of SWG but i do understand it. I wasted alot on extractors too... but now i'll only stock for two days at a time... but the one thing i'd like to know... is the resources the same on all planets or different??? and one last point... doesn't this system mean that if at one point (just for example) a really good metal spawed.. and the weaponsmiths made some nice weapons and ppl got them, but the next spawn the best metal is no where near as good, don't the new weaponsmiths or artisans lose out (cos they can never make better weapons than when the other metals were avaible) and don't the ppl that didn't (weren't able to) buy those weapons at a disadvantage??
Just a few things i had on my mind
Ra'ven (in game)
Was/this is thinking about going for Master Weaponsmith
