Thread: A beginner question CDEF Weapons
Hi all,
I am a newbie artisan, which materials (metal, chemical) fits to CDEF weapons best? For example; conductivity, quality, decay, etc.
If you look in your data pad at the draft schematics and select one of the CDEF weapons (but its the same for any item) you'll see in the details what elements or each resource are important (conductivity, overall quality etc) for the item.
However since each resource only exists for a maximum of 8 days (and a minimum of 5 days - unless of course the server screws up) whats good for CDEF weapons this week may not be the best next week because theres either a better one or just because you cant mine it anymore
Unless you find a resource that has every element in the 900's (1000 being the max - and if the element isnt listed it counts as being 0) there isnt a 'best' resource for everything - so if you find a good resource its worth stockpiling it for your future crafting (assuming your not immediately using it) or for sale to others once the resource has gone (because you might be able to charge a premium for it)
Thanks for your reply, but its not exactly what i asked for. I know the procedure. But I dont want to lose time with surveying and sampling. If u tell me which materials have best quality, conductivity and decay stats. I will buy them by bazaat terminals.
Just, name the materials.
I suggest for the metal, go with copper. Copper has a high conductivity and that is what is very important to a CDEF. For the chemical element, go with a polymer. Those tend to be good.
I dont think thats what hes asking for either - I think hes asking for the names and stats of specific resourceavailable in the game right now - am I right?
Hate to break it too you but
a. Resources are different on each server - you're better offasking this on your servers board
b.I'm happy to help people but dont you think your just being lazy now? If you were paying for this kind of info that would be different (because to be 100% accurate I'd have to sample and examine every metal and chemical on every planet available right now - thats alot of work my friend to just casually expect someone tl give that kind of market advantage away)
Hi, Ashrid! Thanx for your interest. But, i am not lazy. I seek and examine whole materials nearby Anchorhead. But half of the materials werent found at that area. So i couldnt have a chance to examine them. ![]()
And i thought that surveying takes a lot of time. It is wiser to go on mission, earn money and buy materials from bazaar.
Thats why i want the names. I was using ego-copper, but its quality or conductivity is not well enough. So i need a better metal.
Please name it, and i will buy from bazaar terminals, maybe from you ![]()
Note: Actually, i wont be an artisan. I am a Marksman who wants to be a Smuggler, which needs Artisan xp
1) resources shift every 5-8 days. one of the problems with being a crafter. So even if epop copper was good before it may not be available tommorrow. many of the resources i like to use as a droid engineer are not even available on my planet.![]()
2) resources are different on every server. Due tothe variable's associated with #1Kettemoor will often be different from say Radiant. I did not notice any notation on your post as to which server you were on![]()
3) If you are just trying to get XP then buy any metal or any chemical and select the practice box during the final stages of the crafting. This will give you bonus xp and doesn't clutter your inventory with useless cdef's.
Which, by the way I have tried unsuccesfully to sell for profit on my server/location.
Good luck
"Hi, I work out of Bestine and I want to know what the best metal for making CDEF weapons is, but I dont have the time to survey all the different ones and compare them, so if someone could just do this for me and let me know I can just buy it all from the Bazaar
Thanks"
Now maybe I'm just reading it wrong or your not putting it acorss very well (because I get the impression English is not your first language) in which case I apologise but it just looks like you want to get someone to do all the hard work for you
Besides if your buying from the Bazaar, cant you just examine whats for sale on the bazaar to see its stats?
They are trying to be nice, but there isn't any one item that you can point to and say this works best. Overall Copper and Aluminum have better conductivity than other mentals, but in a given week better still may not be very good. As for chemicals, they don't have conductivity, so you are looking for quality in most cases. In any given week anything can have the highest quality.
If the guy doesn't want to mine his own resources, he doesnt' have to. He can buy off the bazzar. It's easy to look at the qualities of anything that you buy.

Well ya know Ashrid, just to play the devil's advocate, many players only can devote a couple hours a week to play and have, as a result, very limited in game funds, so spending those 3 hours looking for resources seems like a less then fun gaming experience.
+1
thanx Mierin, u explained me. 2-3 hours a day which 2-3 days a week; that means only 4-9 hours a week. Pretend that u r me. You have limited time to play SWG, and u spend most of your time for comparing metals
If I was not workin' and I was a student, I would even prepare a web-site for SWG. But, for earning money, more work, less SWG, precious times. ![]()
Okay, you're trying to find out what to buy at the bazaar to make "x".....
Step 1: Pull up the schematic and see what type of resources you need, and what properties are important.
Step 2: Go to a bazaar terminal and see what resources of the types you need are available.
Step 3: Correct me if I'm wrong, but you can examine what's for sale on the bazaar before you buy it. Spend a few minutes comparison shopping.
Step 4: Buy & craft away.
Alternative:
Step 1: As above
Step 2: Go to www.SWGcraft.com and use "find resources" to check for the resource types you need. Fill in the properties boxes (OQ:66, PE: 33 for stims, for example) according to the schematic. Also check that you're searching just your server/planet and just for available resources.
Step 3: Jot down the top couple of entries for each resource you need.
Step 4: Take your shopping list to the bazaar. Look for the good stuff & buy it.
Step 4a: Take your shopping list & survey tool and sample the good stuff by hand.
Step 5: Craft away.
