I am guessing here would be a good place to post it. I wanted to know what skill attachments Astisan has and if they work. just from reading a bit I saw already there is the Artisan Experimentation and Assembly also Surveying. I see that the Exp. tapes work and the surveying doesnt help with the distance but maybe with harvesting the resources. Can someone tell me if I am missing an attachment or if these are them and that is how they work?
1) If I find a 95% deposit, but there's a harvester right next to it, will the harvester affect the amount that I can sample?
2) Is there a method of knowing where a good deposit is likely to turn up, other than just pulling the survey tool out randomly? I haven't seen a pattern yet.
3) Does experimentation increase the amount of XP I get from crafting an item?
4) Does crafting a more complex item generate more XP than a less complex item?
5) Are certain planets better for finding certain resources? As an example, I can't seem to find an ore deposit above 59% within 3k of Mos Eisley - is it going to be like that all over Tatooine?

I'm really enjoying artisan. Much more than I thought I would! Anyway, I have some questions ...
1) If I find a 95% deposit, but there's a harvester right next to it, will the harvester affect the amount that I can sample?
Nope. The harvester doesn't 'suck up' the resources you harvest by hand.
2) Is there a method of knowing where a good deposit is likely to turn up, other than just pulling the survey tool out randomly? I haven't seen a pattern yet.
There is no pattern. Though, in my experience, the best place for a particular resource is either in a lake or in a city.
3) Does experimentation increase the amount of XP I get from crafting an item?
No. Experience is based on the amount of resources consumed and whether or not you are in 'practice mode'.
4) Does crafting a more complex item generate more XP than a less complex item?
See above. Complexity relates to how long it takes to make in a factory.
5) Are certain planets better for finding certain resources? As an example, I can't seem to find an ore deposit above 59% within 3k of Mos Eisley - is it going to be like that all over Tatooine?
With the exception of planet specific resources, no. All planets are equal. The ore concentration is a ore thing, not a planet thing. I've never seen ore get much higher than the mid 60's. I might have seen a 70% once, but I'm not sure.
I didn't realise that practise mode made a difference to XP. Does it give you more or less? (I'd try it out, but I'm at work. *sigh*)
How can I tell what number a schematic is when my datapad has become ordered? I can't find a way to get it to become un-ordered again, and guessing is taking me forever! Is there a way of resetting the datapad, or am I doomed to forever guessing?
- Open up your options menu by pressing CTRL + O
- Click the option on the right that says Interface.
- On the interface menu you'll see a list of check boxes; look for the one that says something about keeping items in your datapad sorted and uncheck it.
That should do it for you. You'll probably have to relog before the change will take effect, but it is supposed to be possible to undo the sorting of your datapad and inventory. I haven't tried to locate a schematic number in my recently unsorted datapad, but it certainly looks like it is back to its original order.
Another option is to use the following command in your macro instead of selecting a draft schematic:
/ui action defaultButton;
Whenever you open a crafting tool it automatically jumps to the last schematic that you were working on with that type of crafting tool. This resets every time you log in so you'll have to open up a crafting tool and select the proper schematic at the beginning of each grind session. In any event, the above command makes use of the tools' memory: the tool opens, jumps to your selected schematic and then the command moves the tool into the resource input phase of the crafting session.
Good luck!
I've tried unchecking the sort checkboxes before, and it made no difference to the schematics even after restarting SWG.
