Thread: Survey Missions

Weapons skill goes with surveying by necessity. You survey so that you can plant a harvester. To plant a harvester you sometimes need to clear off any warrens or dens that are too close to your high percentage vein. You do that with a weapon. When you go out to check the harvester that you put down through your surveying skills, you sometimes have to kill off the creatures that always seem to camp next to a harvester that is just about to run out of maintenance and/or power. I got Pistoleer just to be a competent surveyor.

Don't let the negative AFKophobes get you down. Play the game however you want.

Is the beta testing almost over for this game?

I agree with not needing to fight if you are emptying harvesters. Even if something attacks, most stuff is small enough that I can just ignore it, take a few hits, empty the harvester, and then just speed away on my swoop. However, for placing harvesters, it really helps to be able to clear the area of critters, especially if they have nested right where you need to put the harvesters. I'm not really a combat person, I avoid killing animals (and most humans) whenever I can. But business is business, and even cute animals are not going to stand in the way of my pulling up something that is worth a lot of money.

I'll be the first to admit combat is not really my thing.
Probably getting too old !!
I find survey missions by bike the best way to make money in game. I still cant get the high paying missions yet tho.
I got pistols 3, but lvl 4 is taking ages to grind the XP solo.

Lady Grey's post is very true, but I still fail to see the direct relevance when taking missions. Surely a Master Artisan should be able to get the best Artisan Missions without being shooty. (You listening Devs ?? )

PS: Mask Scent is a big help in emptying harvesters without being eaten.

PPS: And heres a big help macro to speed up the survey missions
/dismount;
/survey;
/mount;
you must still survey manually once at the start,but for me this is usually when I find the resource,before i've taken the missions.

What you need to do is stand on the highest concentration there. And survey again. Don't sample, that won't help. You just need to be standing on a concentration that is as high or higher than the objective.
