Thread: Vehicle Wishlist!

color --> image designer but rename them to designer... they do the paintjob
That's very creative. I kind of like it. I'll give it to the ID correspondant. You might post it on the ID forum yourself.
Image designers could be more of an "artist tree"... even things like paintings could be in their purvey. At first it sounds like a crazy idea, but it could work.

I have put more then a few seconds into it, lot more ![]()
so don't see anyting in that post as crazy idea ![]()

Man so many good ideas.....I hope the devs read and consider them for future updates.
As a RL motorcycle and car mechanic I would love to see an new profession for vehicles.
I know this goes against the eng4 vs MA thing but consider this;
A Mechanic profession (a branch off MA) could build, customize, upgrade, maintain, and repair all vehicles. Remember Han made many of the modifications to the Falcon himself........
But the idea of other skills being needed to furnish components would encourage player cooperation and boost the economy. In RL I out source many specialized jobs to others (body work to a body shop for example). Why can't that be true here?
As for ideas I like;
Storage....all vehicles and mounts (they have saddle bags) should have some cargo space. Smaller storage for smaller vehicles is understandable, but it would be nice to attach one pack to the speeder bike, or two packs toa swoop as saddlebags (HINT HINT). And the land speedershould have a trunk of some kind, my toy one did! Remember the little trunk in front big enough for a gun or two, and you could drop stuff behind the seats.
Back to my point......
Passengers....many examples in the SW movies of this, but make the added weight a penalty for top speed
Fuel source....make them need a petro-chem or even a radioactive ore based fuel. Again adds to the cooperation and economy.
Gearing, or multi-speeds....Low, high, short boost. Same as walk, run, burst run. Simple and logical.
Combat from or vehicle mounted weapons....many others have already made the case for this. I do like theneed of weapon smiths to make them.
Components....Just a few required to build the base vehicle with (chassis, drive system, repulsor lift system, control system) But the ability to swap out and upgrade them is a must! I want to go to Toshi station and get power converters!!!!
Colors....Yes a no brainer, just look at how popular colors have been to armor and droids.
Player control of repair/maint....This is a major player economy issue and may even spawn sub professions.InAotC Qui-Gon needed to get a new hyper drive for them to get to Coruscant, and the pod racers were all but built from spare parts and junk! In ESB Han and Leia went to Bespin for repairs!
I would love to see versions ofthese ideas applied to all the player built items. Architects should have custom control over floor plans, not just a few simple styles to choose from. DE's should be able to mod droids after they are built, not just colors but components.
You keep saying this is as much a player controled game as it is a dev built game, then give us the tools and control we need to do that. I understand there are programming issues with some things, but try. Please.
Vehicle wish list:
1. Color choice - In the domestic skill tree of artisan there are color choices when tailoring, so it shouldn't be that hard to allow colors for vehicles
2. Multiple riders, at least for landspeeders- In the original movie Luke, Ben, R2 and C3PO all rode in or on Lukes landspeeder.
3. Experimentation on speed and durability- This would add an element of difference to vehicles from different builders, thus adding to competition
Ok, I've seen great ideas within all posts. Yes, it's true that now all the vehicle-related things are quite simple but, as seen on movies, books and games, the Star Wars universe has a huge list of vehicles and starships. So when the time comes that the Space Expansion arrive I think we'll see some more additional professions as Vehicle Engineer/Spacecraft Engineer (or just only one profession for that) and, of course, a Pilot one.
So, if you modify too much the vehicles now it might be a problem for all os us later to accept that. I'm not an Droid Engineer, so I cannot make a Droid and I cannot chage it's colour... but if I'm a Vehicle/Starship engineer I CAN meake both things, experiment and colour changing.
We have to wait a while, I think devs are just trying to "show" just the end of the iceberg ![]()

Since I first read about the Vehicle patch in the In Development section of the SWG site, I thought of this. Heck,I even expected it, although it turns out I was wrong. I'm hoping that the Mechanic would also get 6 more vehicle specs (+2 to each existing class) and be able to make mods to vehicles AND starships.
But, wishes ain't Firesprays and I can't fly.

My suggestions:
Redo the controls like this:
Mouse for steering left and right
Up arrow is the accelerate
Down arrow is to brake, not turn the speeder around
Left and Right arrow is to lean
Leaned turns will result in a sharper turn. Unleaned turns will result in a wider turn.
Also hopping to see some upcoming vehicles that would allow 2 person on board.
