Thread: vendor question
I have just reached Bussines 3, and so can now place a vendor in my Guild Hall. I selected the big bulky machine that is the only option at this point and ran of to stick it down.
I drop, rotate, initialize and then drop 2k maintenance on it, but when I try and use it says its not initialized...which it is. I don't think I can pay maint until I've initialized, so it must be???
I've tried it 3 or 4 times in different places...what am I doing wrong?

To answer your question, No The owner of the hous/vendor is the only one that can admin it. I tried it with my brother who has business III. He tried to access my vendor in my house on which he is an admin. He was unsuccessful. Feel safe knowing your items are protected.. =)
Just to nit-pick, you don't have to be the owner of the house to place a vendor, just be on the admin list. But only the vendor's owner can place items up for sale, pay maintenance, etc. Other people can put items into the vendor as an offer, but only the vendor's owner can purchase those.
And the initialization problem with terminal and droid vendors is a known bug, there's a workaround stickied in the Merchant forum.
Hmm
I wondered this myself. The issue is that having access to your vendor would mean that that individual wouldn't have had to get skill in business so I'm guessing no. Maybe if they have business or merchant skills. I'd like to know more about this myself.
I thought that NOvice Merchant could only have 2 vendors out at a given time. I am 0-0-1-0 in merchant, but yet I can have 3 merchants out, did I miss a +1 vendor somewhere?
Thanks
There is a lot of debate on this, and I expect vendors to become active merchant boxes only soon enough though.
The design plan is for merchants to buy goods, from you, so they can sell to other people.
Right now people sell their own stuff, either with legit merchant skills, or by getting one and selling back skills. This defeats the purpose of the merchant profession.
Best bet is try to get afilliated with a "mall" or other group of people with vendors. peopel liek the 1 stop shopping experience.
