Thread: worth it?

So what is it about the other professions that overshadow the artisan?
Bigger profit margin, more in-depth and complex crafting.... but artisan isstill a rewarding and worthwhile profession in its own right.

is being a tailor really alll that worth it?
if you're looking to make an extremely enormous amount of credits, No.
if you like dealing with custom orders, and being very creative with your work, Yes.
Tailor can be extremely fun. it's not the most profitable crafting profession (i'd say Chef, Armorsmith, or Weaponsmith are). We don't need to gather massive amounts of the most uber resources ever, since resource stats don't mean a think when crafting clothing.
Personally I love working directly with the customers to make them custom outfits to fit their personality or the "look" they are going for. I don't make millions doing it (that's what my Master Artisan skills are for, since those foods sell like crazy). Tailoring is more of an escape from the higher demands of other crafting professions i've done. I really enjoy Tailoring. and if you provide excellent customer service, you'll generally have a customer for life.
I would answer seriously if you were not going into every prof board asking this.
but as you are let's be honest , No it is not the money maker you are looking for.
tailoring is a proffession of passion really. If you aren't passionate about it, you probably won't do very well with it. I love being a tailor, even tho I complain about it all the time to my friends in game.. and trust me I do, but I would never give it up.
If you don't really love it, you won't appreciate it. And no, it's not a major money maker, if you want a money maker most of the other crafting professions would be better.
I love being a tailor.
Keeping a good clothing selection in stock, actively manging your range by adding more of what sells and reducing what doesn't sell, running your harvestors and factories in a not so friendly environment, getting people to travel to your shop, getting feedback from your customers, custom orders and personal sittings, colour matching to other items they bought elsewhere or were reward items, messing around with colours to see what does and doesn't look good on a particular item, dealing with the occasional pushy customer, being able to make a few credits each week.
It's fun.
It's rewarding.
It's challenging (no, really).
I love being a tailor.

i make a great deal of credits selling Artisan Foods, and having Master Artisan gives me a total of 10 experimentation points, therefore my foods end up with better stats.
Swoop bikes sell very well, but to remain competitive you end up with a very small profit margin
Weapon Powerups sell very well, especially to the pvp'ers, and the 10 experimentation points help a ton
Vehicle Restoration Kits are nearly impossible for me to keep in-stock
Vehicle Customization Kits (let you color vehicles) sell fairly steady as well
Also, Droid Engineers needsome electronic components that Master Artisans make. I believe there are some Weapon components that require Master Artisan parts as well.

My favorite part of tailoring is running the shop and decorating it to give it a nice home feeling. I can't stand walking into those small houses that have a bunch of random vendors lined up next to eachother without a single peice of furniture.
QFE!
Yes, that too drives me nuts, i've spent plenty of time decorating my shop with displays and furniture and other items to make it look nice.
