Don't confuse support for eliminating cross-server trades as support for certifications.
They are very different things.
For me, it's summer in Michigan. The next 3 months are the only ones worth being outside. I think I'll take a step back from the game andjust play it as a casual gamer for a few months. Stop worrying about the devs making good or bad decisions. Stop worrying about screwed up economies, exploits, and how to fix them. Just react to whatever happens.

Halaster,
I was referring to Korlan's post, though I admit that since my post was kind of addressed to you it wouldn't have been easy for you to figure that out by ESP.
I know your support is limited to stopping cross-server lot trades and not for the c-word. But to me, opposition to what Guruweaver thinks is the biggest exploit in the game at the moment...cross-lotting...(and I agree on this) does a lot to raise someone's credibility with respect to resource issues.
Summer in Michigan sounds a lot better than summer in NC. Here, it's really fall and spring that are nice. Summer is hot and humid and generally a bit unpleasant, at least in my opinion.

We get plenty of hot, muggy days. Not unlike NC. I spent a lot of time down there a couple summers ago. BCBSNC is one of our best clients.

Didn't hand sampling get a nerf a while back in terms of number of units extracted.
That nerf seems like more than enough reason to ask for greater bonuses to the survey tree in other respects.

Who uses hand sampling besides noobs? (For working up survey exp and getting the first set of materials for crafting...)

I'm all for getting a bonus to harvester extract rates going up the survey tree, from a purely selfish perspective, but I can't in good faith argue we should get it because of some inconsequential nerf to the same line...

For Noobs, that nerf isn't inconsequential. Before you can pay for harvs...and remember how long those survey missions can take...you extract your own resources by hand.
Having to go for a much longer period of time to get resources to craft with was far from inconsequential to me when I was learning artisan.

... which is all well & good on a new server, but on established servers, there are plenty of helpful folks who'll assist a newb.
is soe planning to open new servers?

No one does anymore. But I did when I was a noob. It used to get over 100 units or so I hear at survey 4. That's been taken away and in spades.
All I'm suggesting is that since the line was nerfed and still uses the same skill points...perhaps it would be reasonable to give it some bonuses to extraction. (To argue in favor of our survey line issue.)

1. New Schematic for Fireworks: As of now fireworks are a pain to load into the Firework Show Package, need a Schematic for loading.
2. I'd like to see a Shellfish/Fishing Harvestor, Or maybe a type of Dock (Part on land, part on Water) and a Ship (Water based) sit's on the Water collecting Shellfish/Fish (Selectable).
3. Vehicle: Parts on a speeder that need to be replaced from time to time (Garage only fixes Armor repairs: dents and dings). We've all done the Artisan missions of Speeders needing some sort of Control device. But yet our own speeders don't. That needs to Change! Shouldn't the vehicle's in general have a Booster Rocket (Gallop)?
4. This may be a Artisan/Scout thing: Fishing, If myMaster Artisan makes a 89-95% fishing pole. Would like to see my scout caught afish larger than 0.7 in length. Where's the Big Fish's at? Deep sea Fishing? Need Boats!!!
5. The Bonus to Mining would be nice. +25% for MA.

Guru: I would appreciate it if you would post this along with your footnote for harvester cert proponents...
Analyzing Certifications
Devs, I'm not going to beg you not to implement harvester certs. Instead, I'm going to ask you to query your database for a few things and think about what you find. Please do this after you've read what the proponents of harvester certs have to say, and then you really only need bother with it if they've managed to convince anyone on your team that their notion is worth considering for more than a fraction of a second.
The queriesI askyou to run are these, on a server-by-server basis:
1) Query the list of all players who have logged in to the server in the last 10 days and stayed logged in for more than an hour. Count all the lots they are presently using for harvesters - just the ones with harvesters on them atany givenmoment (or over the past week if it's feasible). This is the approximate number of harvesters that will be available and useful once "grind" quality resources completely lose their value (patch 10).
2) Query the list of Master Artisans, specifically for the number of lots they have that are either empty or have harvesters in them. This is the approximate number of harvesters that will be available and useful if you implement certifications as the proponents have requested them to be.
Please take a good, hard look at how much smaller the result of the 2nd query is than that of the 1st query. Then extrapolate how that reduction in capacity will impact resource availability and thus the economy. If you feel afteranalyzing that data thatcerts area good thing to do to the galactic economies, then go for it.
Thank you.

Hey all,
I've still not gotten any footnotes (aside from the one right above this post) about harvester certs. If no-one wants to write one up, I'll drop the idea.
I'm about to do another edit. Stay tuned.
