*** SUPPLY AND DEMAND IS THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE OF CAPITALIST ECONOMICS ***

Or to state it simply, goods are worth exactly what people will pay for them.

If you're selling goods for less than what people will pay for them, you are selling your goods too cheap.

Sorry Marinha- I really wish we had an edit button. I didn't mean to soundlike that much of an arse there. I happen to think you're selling your profession a little short, but who am I to tell ya how to play the game. Cheers.

Its ok, im rereading some of my posts and I sound like im a evil little witch or something. Artisan is just something i like to do, its not really what i consider my profession. Talk about value, im an Image Designer... i love to do it, its fun. But it really doesnt have value so to speak. We could all be fat wookies with white hair and it wouldnt matter at all... dont know what my point is, im just talking now

Ah, yes I did misread the 1 cpu as 1 credit, my fault--I thought it sounded rather silly. As the previous poster said, perhaps your price is understandable since you were given the materials to get to MA and the title does not mean as much to you. As for the length of time causing one to become more bitter, I must admit that seems to be the case--you deal with the same issues time and again, plus the fact that as I said, I've been carrying this MA dead weight around my shoulders for some time--I really could have put the skill points to use elsewhere--probably contributes to my outlook on the matter. I was also once bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, it would be interesting to see how your outlook changes. There wasa guy on the tailor board bragging about how he'd give clothes away for free, just to get his name out there and make people happy. There was a long thread where he spoke about the greed of all us tailors. Somewhere along the way I stopped seeing his posts and eventually read one where he spoke out his mind about people who were charging way too little for their items, it gave me a chuckle. Eventually your time becomes worth more and more, when you've dealt with enough wackos.

All I know is that I'm flat broke! Spent ALL my cash on Energy, Harvesting and obtaining resources. If I can't charge a decent price for these vehicles I'm up *edit* creek! Even with all that, I only have enough resources to put together 5-10 vehicles, I know that some of you MA's have Heavy Harvestors and all that, but some of us don't! We have to pay through the nose for resources. I'll be starting my prices at 10cr/Unit and take it from there. Whatever the Market will pay baby!

Hmm, for those that are expecting vehicles to be as crazy as mounts, you might be in for a bit of a shock. Although mounts aren't as good as vehicles, you couldn't gather lots of resources to churn out mounts en mass. People can with vehicles. Also it's not that time consuming for someone to grind there way to engineering IV from scratch (if they have the spare skill points). Getting to Empathy IV takes a lot of skill points and some time), so there wasn't much competition out there.

Having said that, all power to the people thatdo sell them for a huge profit. The only reason mounts were so expensivewas because a lot of silly people did silly things and ruined it for the normal players. I'd rather seethe cash in your pocket then theirs. Maybe they'll learn one day. Just try and work out who the idiot's are and over charge them. Then sell properly priced vehicles to the good people of SWG

They usually aren't hard to pick out.

In any case, I agree with you. This won't be complete repeat of the Mount Frenzy. If you absolutely have to have one the first few days, you're likely pay a 50-100% markup but prices should stablize quickly. One correction - the vehicle schematics are at Master Artisan now, not Engineering IV.

The Deal:

Vehicles ARE disposable AND everyone will want to own/try all three.

I said it before and I will say it again-

Charge too much and your killing the goose with the golden eggs. You can have repeat costumers EASILY and Charge a decent amount. I'm thinking from 60k-90k (-20k on each after stabilization). Charging too much will hurt your rep. especially when the week is up and this person needs another vehicle (remember they are disposable). They are going to question EVERYTHING they bought from you.

Charging 3-4cpu is not enough. Yeah, you will have everyone and their mama buying vehicles from you. Soon it will be all you log on to do- make vehicles for cheap prices- and your box will be filled with orders you can't and won't want to make. That's how you burn out.
Not only that but you WILL have people buying from you and selling at higher prices. It would be foolish not to! If you got someone selling you something for a nickle when you KNOW you can sell it to someone else for 2 bucks, you do it. That's business.
To top it all off, when vehicles DO get the color/componet upgrades you will have to raise your prices considerably. Making you a greedy little **edit** in the customer's eyes. Mine will rise only slightly if at all.

But to each his own, eh?
I bought my mount for 5k 3 days after release and tipped the guy 3k. I got my mount trained for 7k. Not a bad deal.
I can buy a new mount on my server for 15k but I saw a guy just a week or two ago trying to sell one Fully trained for 45k. Did he sell it? I don't know- He was there for quite a while though.

Honestly... if I saw a vendor with vehicles at very low price I'd buy 'em all and resell.

Why? Because I'm a businesswoman, not stupid.

Which is why they wont be on my vendor

You still keep missing the point ... if you don't want to put them on your vendor, because they will sell out, because their price is too low ... what does that tell you?

It tells you that your prices are tooo low ... but you can't fathom that fact ... you want to try to *control* pricing by selling directly to users.

So in the end, your pricing / method of business is to try to *stick* it to other crafters ... your trying to manipulate the market and not let the market set the price.

Otherwise you would put them on your vendor :-)

Do you get it now? do you see how you are saying *I want business* ... but then saying *I don't want business*.

If you are going to sell at 4-1 ... why not just sell all the vehichles you have resources for in 1 big chunk? you got 400k/200k resources saved up? 600k at 4-1 markup? 2.4 million credits? if you could dump that in 1 shot you would not take it?

Sometimes it just amazes me how folks think :-) (or don't)

It's because people think somehow it's more 'noble' if they try and force the market down, pricewise. Tailors have been dealing with this for quite some time. And the bargain basement tailors have started a few threads where they're indignant that someone has the gall to buy their stuff and sell it at a higher price. Instead of seeing this as a business opportunity (hey, i could get more money for my stuff) they see it as someone gouging the poor consumer with higher prices, charging what they feel is an 'unfair' price. Eventually it seems tailors settle in at higher prices just to keep their business down, believe it or not. Bargain basement tailors don't get to do anything else.

I dont want someone taking something that i made and selling it for obscene prices. I dont give a crap about trying to "control prices" im not selling to everyone on lowca. Im selling to people on my friends list.

I just dont think YOU get it. Where do you get the idea that im trying to "stick it to other crafters"? And this "want business dont want business" thing youre talking about is being pulled from a nuna's butt too.

Let me line up my stance on vehicles for you in a nice little list-

  • I think vehicles are way too easy to make without subcomponents

  • I'll be selling to friends or former image design customers

  • I dont care what you sell for, butI firmly believe that 100-200k for a vehicle is nuts

  • My prices are not too low. Do the math. Free resources or resources bought at 2cpu being used to make vehicles that i will sell at 4cpu. I was able to get lucky with resources. Im very sorry that other people have not been as fortunate but i wont be jacking up my prices just because they were not able to make the same arrangements i was.

  • Why not sell all my vehicles in bulk? Hmm, good question? Cause that wouldnt be FUN, you know what that is right?

Sometimes people's reading comprehension ability amazes me, :-) (or their lack thereof)

I also agree that they are too easy to make
