Thread: my prices will be 100k 150k and 200k

My favorite part of this thread is the lady who says she's afraid someone will buy all the vehicles off her vendor and sell them at 'crazy' prices. Do you realize how silly that statement is? You probably don't. Go ahead, sell your vehicles for 1 cr and then start a post tomorrow on how artisans can't make any money in this game, you only provide entertainment for the rest of us.
Please read my post again.... done? Great. Im sure you caught the point i made when i said i was going to make someone a vehicle for 1cpu if they bring me the resources. I will simply be assembling an item that takes very little effort on my part. Its like doing a favor for nothing more than a small tip. Its called being nice.
My base price is 4cpu when i use my own resources, ill be using metal that was largely given to me. Other metals i urchased for 2cpu, "simple economics"? My math tells me that im doubling and in some cases quadrupling my expenses by selling at those prices.
I dont want someone buying my vehicles from my vendor that im selling for 4cpu so they can go sell them for 10-20 cpu. I will make plenty of credits but i see no need to rip off everyone under the sun (or suns if on tatooine).
Now, do you realize how silly your post is? ![]()

Honestly... if I saw a vendor with vehicles at very low price I'd buy 'em all and resell.
Why? Because I'm a businesswoman, not stupid.
Which is why they wont be on my vendor

Selling cheap vehicles is the stuipidest thing I've ever heard, and you guys are fooling yourselves if you don't think someone is going to buy your vehicle for 10k or whatever and turn around and sell it for 10 TIMES that amount!
Hell, I'll buy all your vehicles for 10k and save you the time standing around a starport.
If your crafting for the pure joy of it, why not just give them away then? If your crafting for money, why shoot yourself in the foot by charging so low? Resource cost isn't the only cost factor for vehicles. How bout time, andskill points spent on Artisan to name a couple more...
Seem like the second i hit reply someone else is posting.
I dont think you get the point im trying to make. Vehicles are SO easy to make. There is no need to blatantly rip off everyone on day one. I wont be selling bulk vehicles to anyone. I am thinking of the future, you know the future right? The time that comes when people realize how easy it is to make and how easy it is to become a master artisan? People will remember who overcharged.
Bet half of you guys have been buying metal at 6-10 cpu too huh?
Thats a good point straws and im sure youre right. Im selling to everyone on my friends list at 4cpu and 1cpu if they bring me resources, i may not make loads of cash off of this.
But i think people are going to figure out how disposable vehicles are. Im not sure that everyone else (meaning people who unlike myself have not made them or tested each type on test center (after i was finally able to get on... different rant) really understands that vehicles are not built to last.
Bottom line is, ill be making money. Not as much as some of you 100-200k people but ill be doing just fine. i'll get a few people to come back more than once. I really hope the whole "1cpu+bring me resources= vehicle" thing takes off. I wouldnt mind making around 5k for just assembling some pieces together (wont be doing this in bulk for resellers, just one vehicle at a time).
Now when subcomponents come into play and crafting the vehicle becomes more challenging with custom colors and various experimentation, i'll have to rethink my pricing.
Whoa, whoa, whoa!
Blatantly ripping people off?
I've spent a ton of time, over 200k in maintenance, devoted harvesters to steel that I don't need for Weaponsmith, purchased and devoted harvesters to power for said steel, invested the skillpoints and time tomaster the professionand you claim people are being ripped off becauseI may happen to charge more than someone else?
It's a free-market society. Everyone is free to charge whatever they darn well please. Customers are also free to purchase from whomever they choose. My prices happen to be quite reasonable but a MasterArtisan selling at some of the ridiculously low prices that I've seen is simply A) stupid or B) has no business sense at all. Vehicles should be priced to be profitable. Frankly, the customers are a pain in the butt for the most part ("what colors can I have?") and we are entitled to compensation for our time, skill points, resource gatheringand expertise. Some of you will understand this when you are overwhelmed with business over the next week or so and find that you are either not satisifed for the reward you receive for the amount of work you're about to take on or (worse) you have to disappoint customers because you failed to understand beforehand what you were getting yourself into. Regards.
BTW, explain to me why I should sell vehicles for the same amount or less than I can sell the raw resources for?
So you place a higher value in the seconds you spend at the crafting station than you place on the hours of time you spend honing your craft and gathering resources?

Wow some of u really make me laugh ... If you are a Master Artisian and have been for a month or 2 and you don't already have a few mill in the bank then u are doing something wrong.
Stop take a few minutes and think things over ... lol I will even give you a hint... I make 300k to 600k a week with 2 heavy mineral extractors.
Folks this is SWG and LOT's/Most people in the movie and the game have more money than they know what to do with.
If all I can make is 5k on a vehicle I will make myself one and ride around and stick my tongue out at people. ![]()

I "honed my craft" by making pretty much the same item over and over again. Multiple subcomponents will require factory time and that means additional power/maint fees that ill have to cover. My resources are largely gathered by a guild that does just about nothing but harvesting and they sell at very reasonable prices AND they deliver to my vendors so i dont have to go anywhere. Vehicles are about as hard to make as 10 sided dice, seriously. When they become more complex my pricing will reflect that.
And to ba-ba, some very valid points that reflect YOUR situation. Sorry to say youre blatantly ripping people off. I just assumed that since i was able to arrange good prices for bulk resources before hand, that everyone else was able to do the same if they had decided to. Youre free to sell at your price and im free to sell at mine but why am i the one being called stupid or ignorant (not necessarily by you) because of my prices? As far as customers being a pain in the butt, try Image Designing sometime.
Thats half the fun of it. I sent a small emai FAQ to everyone on my friends list (about 56 people or whatever) that answers the most commonly asked questions like what colors and things like that.
Half of the resources i have were GIVEN to me. The other half were purchased at 2cpu. Im selling at 4cpu on a one on one basis, no bulk buyers. One vehicle per person. Its still profit and maybe some people will get a hair cut while they wait for the crafting tool to finish up.

First of all, if you're pricing strictly based on resources, you are forgetting the time, effort and resources that it took for you to get your title of 'Master Artisan'. I have been a master artisan for quite some time now and basically have felt it was a waste of skill points. However I kept the title believing that someday there would be a use for us. The day has finally arrived, we have received schematics that make it worthwhile to spend the skill points for MA and you feel that it's an item that takes 'very little effort' to assemble.Well, if you get down to brass tacks, basically everything in the game is easy to do--it's only a matter of pointing and clicking. However, what brings value to things in the game is the time you must put into it. If you feel your time is only worth1 credit then that's fine, but for months now people have been filling this board with threads on 'how do I make money as an artisan', and really the only answer was to use this prof as a stepping stone to something at which you could actually make money. I certainly don't feel I'm 'ripping someone off' by charging for the time, effort, materials and skill points it took to get the MA title over my head. My prices will not be as high as the original poster of this thread, however you are deluding yourself if you don't think he can sell at that price.
Finally, I would like to say that this 'good samaritan' feeling has also been around in the tailor board for quite some time. The idea that you need to 'help folks out' by giving them rock-bottom prices. You may not know very many combat types, if you did you'd realize why this gives them a chuckle. Most of them--and yes I'm generalizing--have a fat bank account and very little on which to spend their money. Don't believe me? Ask around. Or don't, it really doesn't matter to me.

She had her resources (mainly) given to her and grinded her way up the tree that's why she places so little value in the title.

I amalso a tailor - a profession where the quality of resources and the experimentation results mean nothing. And I still sell itemsat 15-20cpu without any complaints.

I think i had a much different road than you. The hardest thing about master artisan for me was surveying and that was because it just takes time. I would grind while i sat down after dancing or while waiting for the shuttle. The resources were a slightly different story. I had to buy some things to make fireworks when i wanted to watch something pretty blow up in the sky but there are plenty of people that have resources they no longer need, there are generous people out there.
The day has finally arrived, we have received schematics that make it worthwhile to spend the skill points for MA and you feel that it's an item that takes 'very little effort' to assemble. As the schematic is now, it is very easy to make, i thought stim b's were "harder" to make with the subcomponents required. Im fully aware that crafting in this game is a point and click affair, but when i talk about difficulty i really mean subcomponents. Sorry i wasnt more clear on that.
If you feel your time is only worth1 credit then that's fine, Not "1 credit", i said 1cpu. Meaning if it takes 6k of metal and they (they being the customer) bring me 6k of metal ill assemble the vehicle for them for 6,000 credits. The only resources im spending on this process is time. This will be pure profit for me. All of my crafting tools are long since paid for, i received most of my training from other players that needed AP. If people dont thnk this is a good idea there is a serious problem with the waytheir synapses are firing.

Actually the combat types request Image Designs more than any other profession (in my experience at least). They also tip very well. I know they arent poor. But what about my dancing friend or some other fellow Entertainers? They dont have fat bank accounts (now im generalizing, many entertainers are very well off). I'll be having fun and making a little bit of money while im at it. I'll be selling to people i know and maybe a few people here and there.
As you can see by most post count and by the date that i joined, i havent been on these boards very long. I wonder what effect that has had on my outlook of the game? Seems that most people on here in all the profession boards are bitter.
Sorry Marinha- I really wish we had an edit button. I didn't mean to soundlike that much of an arse there. I happen to think you're selling your profession a little short, but who am I to tell ya how to play the game. Cheers.
