Thread: ThunderHeart dropped the ball on a new Correspondant, Vehicles are broken and being ignored.
BWT, a company that is a customer of mine bought that type of software a YEAR AGO and there ARE STILL minor bugs in it, so you can't tell me that they have been paying overtime for a YEAR of 24/7 work. and the car HAM issue IS minor.
Yes they are pay once but I PAYED for a BUG FREE program. There are BUGS therefor they did not test enough therefor I should have a MS tech in my house FIXING all the bugs by YOUR logic.

Sorry to burst YOUR bubble but ONLY Certified Tech can call Techincal Assitance Center and second if a PHONESYSTEM goes down on a saterday at a customer that is open on saterdays I think that it is slightly MORE improtaint the a GAME, and I would like to know the name of the company you work for so that I can do all my bussiness with the befor they GO OUT OF Bussiness by paying OVERTIME because I can't get my screen saver to work.
Let me spell it out for you since you clearly missed the point. I've commentingon SWG from a professional and business point of view. SWG is a service, ie. Customers pay real money for something in return, arguably entertainment (sometimes frustration). Whether it's a game or not is irrelevant in the content in which I'm analysing. No point counter your other "points" since they have no relevance. Go out of business? Not likely. With revenue growth at 75%+ each year (maybe over 100% now) it's not going out of business any time soon. Not my company so wouldn't worry me either way. There's something called professionalism that you should look up in the dictionary.
Nope, once again you've completely missed the point. You paid once for a bug free program, you are correct. The program is not bug free so you're correct again there. This next point is important so pay attention: Microsoft do not charge you extra for the bug fixes. This is where you derailed. Using your flawed logic I would be expecting the SWG developers to come to my house to fix the bugs in their game. That's just silly. No cookie for you.

Strike 3, you're out! Let me try it from another angle. If Microsoft charged people to download Service Pack 1 then we would be one step closer to a parallel between your warped logic and SWG vs Microsoft. However, Microsoft don't charge for patches so let's just drop that for now. Side note: Overtime is not required when you have competant staff, good work practice, and enough human resources so no need to harp on it too much.
No, the condition of vehicles in itself is not a big deal. What it represents (ie. lack of regression testing and/or issue and source trakcing controls) is a big issue. Yes, yes, it's a minor annoyance inthe game. However you're misisng the big picture. The fact that it was reported multiple times on Test Center and has been introduced since the last publish (ie. negative impact on existing code) only amplifies an already poor track record on the part of the SWG development team. If you worked in or had even a vague knowledgeof the software industry I wouldn't even have to waste my time trying to explain why this is such a bad thing. I can accept new features not quite working as intendned (barely) but breaking existing functionality as they have cleary done here is a big no-no. It's not like the vehicle condition bug happens occasionally, randomly, or even most of the time. It happens every single time. If their testing team missed this, whichI doubt they trullywould beincompetant. It's more likely some clown signed this off as being "okay" to release into production. That's sloppy.

Just so that people know. I generated two vehicles on patch day from deeds created prior to the patch and they do not suffer from this bug. I guess it might only affect deeds created post-patch.
All my vehicles are pre-patch but in crates - they are all affected (at least 10 vehicles generated - all types). I am not willing to test any more until this issue is addressed.
Chill, you guys act like it's the end of the world or something. I understand many of you believe and expect SOE to put out a flawless product, but that is just wishful thinking you know. I for one can acknowledge that the devs have made HUGE strides in getting issues resolved, communicating with the community, and getting new content in the game. Now there is always room for improvement, but I for one will encourage SOE to continue working on it, but I'm not gonna ack like they are the slimiest, most unethical game developer to come along. I believe more contructive criticism would be in order here instead of the blanket criticisms we hear far too often on these boards.
You ask for perfection, and it is something that can not be obtained, but mearly strived for.

It effects deeds generated post-patch. As far as the database is concerned, it isn't a deed until it is removed from the crate (until then its just a count on the crate). So yes, it only effects Deeds created post-patch..regardless of whether those deedsare createdfrom pre-patch crates, post-patch crates or manually made post-patch.
Well, looks like Thunderheart has responded in the Weekly Roundtable thread. When asked for an ETA on a fix for the vehicle hitpoint bug, he replied:
"ASAP. Within the next couple of weeks..."
At least we've gotten an acknowledgement now.
"ASAP. Within the next couple of weeks..."
