Thread: Please ask questions here. (will become the FAQ)
This is very unclear right now.
I'll pass along the answer as soon as I know.

The practice mode. Is the only purpose to not actually create the item? Does this give less xp?
Experimentation. Do you get more xp when experimenting?
Ok, I'm relatively a newbie meaning I know enough to get into trouble. Here's some newbie questions for you:
How do I move a harvester? I assume this is what's called 'redeeding'??
Also, what's the etiquette in asking someone to train you? I know players get points for teaching, but, are you doing someone a favor by letting them train you? --or are you, more often than not, bugging others. --If I need training, is it appropriate to stand downtown and /shout out what you need training in?
Also, what's the general consensus on the amount to tip entertainers? I've been giving 50 about every 2 long minutes of viewing them.
How much can I sell Fiberplast for in the Bazaar? I never see it listed. I assume it's sought after. I read on another post that it should be sold in large bulk. How big?
Is there a command I can use to find out how long before the shuttle arrives without having to visit the threepio droid by the station?
Do regular clothing offer any armor?
I know how to /run. How do I stop running? I'll keep running until I get tired...
I playing 2 characters. How do I transfer one item from a character to another character?
Sometimes I see (HELPER) above a player's name. Does this mean they work for SWG?
It was bugged on the first day and gave you 25% but they fixed that mighty quick

1) You must "destroy" the structure with the hopper empty and sufficient maintinance credits. This will remove the structure and place the deed in your inventory (IF your inventory is not full, if it's full the deed is lost). To re-deed you need 1500 for personal, 3000 for medium (and wind), 4500 for large harvesters.
2) If you are getting training in a basic profession tipping is not neccessary. If you are getting training in an elite then tip them 1000 credits or so. Yes yelling for training is ok, but try using the ctrl-p search functions. The search has a slightly wider range than your yell.
3) Sell resources for what other people are selling them for. In general 3c-5c per will make you a good proffit and isn't too overpriced. HOWEVER EACH SERVER'S ECONOMY IS DIFFERENT. Sell in lots of 100 to 1000 depending on how high you price it. (I.e. 1000 fiberplast for 3000c).
4) No, you have to talk to the PO (protocol) droid.
5) No, clothing doesn't give you armor. You will see "Armor rating: Light" if it did. The Ubese undershirt is the only "armored clothing" there is.
6) Sit down & you will stop running. However this makes you tired too.
7) There is no way to transfer items to a character in a different galaxy.
8) NO. (HELPER)'s don't work for SOE don't give them any account information! Use "/report name" to get a CSR to warn/ban anyone who tries to trick you into giving out account information or anyone who pretends to work for SOE. All CSR's will have "CSR" in front of their names. Devs and CSR's sometimes play outside of work but they don't have any superuser functions unless they're at work.

You redeed a harvester by using the destroy option twice. There is a minimum amount of maintenance necessary to redeed. 1500 for personals, 3000 for mediums, and 4500 for heavies. If you do not have this maintence available when you use destroy, you will lose the harvester - if you do, it will turn back into a deed in your inventory.

Just ask. As long as you aren't pestering someone, or spamming many shouts in town, someone will be glad to help you. Apprentice Exp (which is necessary to become a master of any profession) gives the incentive to teach, in fact, I have heard of folks paying for the honor of teaching folks like you. It is customary to tip the trainer if no payment arrangement is made prior to training.
Also, what's the general consensus on the amount to tip entertainers? I've been giving 50 about every 2 long minutes of viewing them.
I'm not sure if there is one. You might ask the entertainers that one.

This is a better question for your server forum. The economies are different from server to server.
Is there a command I can use to find out how long before the shuttle arrives without having to visit the threepio droid by the station?
Not that I know of.
Do regular clothing offer any armor?
Not exactly. There are 'sockets' in clothing that can be filled with several types of enhancements - but the whole system is buggy right now.
I know how to /run. How do I stop running? I'll keep running until I get tired...
Use the shift key + direction to walk.
I playing 2 characters. How do I transfer one item from a character to another character?
You cannot transfer between characters on different servers.
Sometimes I see (HELPER) above a player's name. Does this mean they work for SWG?
No, it means that they changed their tag to helper under the community options.

Experimentation - If I have three things to experiment on for an item, do I split my experimentation point among all three or can I put all the points in one, experiment, put all the points in another, experiement, put all the points in the third, experiment.
You can do experimentation one point at a time, or all at once. You can't experiment on an item any more once you have used all of your points.

Thanks for all the answers, guys. There are just some things not explained well enough in the manual and take too long to bother asking people while in the game, so I appreciate this forum very much.
Also, please excuse some of the questions I asked that were not Artisan-specific or not following the guidelines of this particular post. It just feels better talking about stuff with other artisans I guess ![]()
you need to find the percentage they list for the material they list, and survey again while standing on that spot for the right material.
You're not garunteed to have the concentration you're asked for on the planet you're on.
When I am at a clothing station in my house and use my clothing crafting tool I get above the #1 start crafting [Open Input Hopper]...
What is this exactly used for?
I can put components in it, crafting tool will go into it.
When i try to put a homemade[blueprint] in, I get the hand is if it will go there but it tells me... that can't go into this place.
If its to hold only the components your useing thats kinda a waste. You can must hold the items you want to use.
Thanks for any help...
a noobie
It doesn't exactly seem useful to me either. Perhaps if your inventory is overloaded and you do a lot of crafting you might find it useful.
