I believe this is a Master DE item, although I cant log on to verify. The quality and quantity of the Survey Droid is due largely to the quality of the required resources. This is one of only a few items that a 12 point MDE could make better than a 10 point MDE (assuming they both had the same exact resources to use). They can be made to have greater charges or uses, or they can be experimented on to report back the results of a survey faster (about 16-17mins is tops.) So it depends on what you value more; speed or quantity.
I have found that the toughest resource to get, IMO, is the Carbonite steel. It has to have good OQ,UT, and SR (I believe. Someone correct me if I'm wrong please).
I recommend using a good OQ lubricating oil to fill the chemical requirement since its OQ is the only stat that will have an impact on the quality of your finished product.
Oh and try to steel some good vertex gemstone from your local Weaponsmith. You will need that as well.

I tried using these yesterday, simple and easy,had a report in my email for that planet when I logged back in. My question, is there an easy way to cross reference the report with another source to get the stats, or do I just have to do a manual search of each item?
For those who use them, how often do you send them out? And do you use them for all the planets and catagories at the same time?
They appear to be a great asset, now if I can find a way to make the info usefull without spending hours everytime I use them.

Use the website http://www.swgcraft.com
I'm not sure of a way in-game to get the stats without surveying every item....SWGCraft is the easiest by far!!

Kinda makes survey droids obsolete though. I have mine decorating my house since I learned about SWGcraft.

There are suggestions on the DE forums to fix the survey droids though. Hopefully they will give you a WP of high concentrations. With SWG Resources, and SWG Craft website, they droids are pretty much worthless. Plus you still have to go flying around the planet for a good spot.

I don't mind the surveying, if they just gave the stats of what it found. I guess for now I will use them to see if the spawn is still active instead of checking every harvestor everyday.

With the introduction of JTL, survey droids have become obsolete. The only thing a survey droid gives you is a list of resources that are currently in spawn on a given plant.
After you deploy a survey droid, it will go to that planet and "survey" the planet then send you an email with a list of the current resources on that plant only. No stats or wp's. This process takes about 30-45 min. to complete. When you choose a survey droid you have to "use" a surveying device and it takes the survey devicefrom your inventory.
With JTL, I can go to every planet by just jumping between planets. As soon as I get to a planet, I hit each of my survey devices to see the list of current resources. Check the list against www.swgcraft.com. Verify the stats. And jump to the next planet. I can check each planet for every type of resource in about 30-45 min.
Also, I personally think that www.swgcraft.com is the best site for checking and updating resources. I hope this helps a little bit.

Survey droids havebeen obsolete since swgcraft.com has been around.
1) They give no stats
2) They give no locations of where you might find them (except for planet)
3) They cost money, and the survey tools you have to "use" with them do to, even if it's not much
The survey droids should offer some sort of attraction to use them considering they are a consumable item and the tools you have to use with them then become consumable as well.
If these things were of any use whatsoever this would make a pretty nice way to get some cash out of the economy. Since that seems to be something that SOE has been wanting to do almost since day one, it seems they kind of missed the boat on this. I know personally if these things only offered waypoints to "suggested mining points" I would have a fleet of them on me at all times.

Yer ganna need a survey tool in your inventory of the type of resource you want to survey. It will eat the tool when you use the survey droid.
