1024 might be a bit much. Perhaps 512 if you had a survey droid out. (Yes, I know, they'd have to add a new module type)
With a 1024 radius, someone would be able to quite easily map out an entire planets resources in a couple hours. I think there should still be a little bit of work involved.

We've actually been talking about doing a surveying module (or surveying droid) to the lineup over on the DE forums. We'll see if the devs actually manage to get it in ...

The current 320m is really low if you consider thatonce you find atrace of the element you're looking for thatmeans that every 160m or there abouts you have to get off your vehicle andre-surveyfor the highest concenration. I find that I usually have to do this about 3-5 times to find the higheset concentration (less if you overshoot the waypoint and continue in the correct direction) in a 70-80% deposit.

I think that 512m or 768m survey range for Masters would be awesome we should get some increase above the 320m aquired at Survey 4.

Survey droids would be great, hopefully they'd work better than the droids used for locating Jedi bounty targets.

I go about 350-400m before surveying again. 320 is the radius. Find the highest point at the outside of your survey radius, go to that point then, go a bit further and survey again. There's no need to do it every 160m.

I'm not against a boost to survey. 1024 just seems excessive.

Vehicles were a nice start, but since they are barely experimentable (hp only) they dont provide any type of reward for keeping Master.

The ONLY thing that seperates Artisans from the rest of the crafters is the Survey-tree.
This is because the other 3 trees are pre-requisites for other Elite Classes, and must be kept for those reasons alone.

Giving Master Artisans a hefty survey-range bonus, or abilities related to survey that only Master Artisans recieve would definately make
the Master skill box worth attaining.

You're making way too much sense here. We'll have none of that. Devs like when people master then drop professions. Why else would they have invented Holo-grinding.

If people are having a hard job chasing their resources after a shift, get a bike, and make a macro that says dismount...survey...mount. After that it takes a very small fraction of the time to find resources.

Hope this helps

Actually, when starting on the fringe of a resource, this is true.
When getting near the center of the concentration, doing this will often overshoot you, forcing backtrack.
Larger search radius will also allow for the ability to detect the fringes of concentrations in low-density areas.

Also keep in mind that nearly all crafters drop Master Artisan as soon as they can afford to because its almost a complete waste of Skillpoints.
I believe Droid Engineers and Archetects are the only classes that seriously keeps Master Artisan, and its more a convenience to do so.
Once they find a Master Artisan Supplier, or Stockpile crates of high-quality components, they drop Master Artisan like a bad habit.

Vehicles? heh. Architects make 100x the money off buildings than vehicles, and with the rate of price-gouging, Droid Engineers almost do too lol.

Master Artisans need something in thier Master Skillbox that makes it worth having spent the points.

I think this should be possible with the help of a droid for master Artisans.
