If i'm reading that correctly, the primary stat there is Point blank. Min damage is secondary and Max is tertiary. So if you maxed out experimentation with good resources on that PuP. You'd get ~+30% point blank and ~+15% Min and Max damage combined?


The original post asked if he can get Min or Max and the Primary stat right?


Just seeking clarification ... cuz all you old guys are confusing me and the issue.


I've been only at this game for about 3 months so yeah I am a noob....

Never been able to (since I was an artisan at least) get speed, min, or max damage on melee powerups. Just doesn't work. That's why it caps at 16% .. unlike ranged. You can get speed or damage on primary stat easy enough.

Are you bi-polar? You have been arguing with people that have been stating this for the whole thread... now you come out and admit that you can't get Max Damage as the primary attribute and Min Damage as the secondary attribute on the same Power up... I just don't get it.


Nobody was saying that you couldn't get both min and max on the same power up. We were just saying that you will never have 33% Max, or 33% Min etc...

I'm not talking about the primary attribute here. I'm talking about a max +16 / min +8 melee pup.

And I actually managed to make one today, my factory is coocking them up right now..

yeah 3rd post in this thread....i actually thought the entire thread was referring to primary stat only but the original poster didn't specify.


so i guess the conclusion is that no, you cannot get those as the primarystat in a melee pup but you can forsecondary and tertiary

Yeah, I'd say you read it wrong. Thanks forspreading misinformation and causingus allto deal with thistopicYETAGAIN.


Now, to recap, the original posterspecifically asked: "Are these [min/max dmg melee powers]no longer possible?.. I use to make them a long time ago, but now, I cant seem to get the initial bonus to be either one now.. "


In response to this, in the third post,I said: "It has never been possible to get min dmg, max dmg, or speed on the primary stat of a melee powerup."


Go back and read the posts. No one hasever said it was impossible to get min and maxor min/max and speed on a melee powerup - just that none of those three could be the PRIMARY stat modifier. Please be more careful next time.

id also like to point out a few things

first, you only need to be a +10 artisan (4400) to max experiment powerups

+11 and +12 do nothing as there are only 10 experimentation slots. you might rescue a powerup from a crit exp fail but it wont be as good as it could be (i dont even bother continuing) ive crafted over 70,000 powerups since 7/3/03. despite taking two 2 month breaks. i craft them, sell them and use them. ive done it with my main toon (trando +10 arty) and my human alt (+11 arty). ive seen no benefit beyon +10 (standard for 4400 arty).

second, i use mineral and chemical over 990 OQ.


anything less will not produce the best possible maximum exp value. unless you got lucky or MAYBE in a research city (which i have tested and didnt see a difference during the time i spent there).




my best primary stat max is 33.16% (ive seen 33.5% max - someone told me it involved a crit fail but i couldnt reproduce it)

my best secondary stat max is 16.33%

typically, i spawn a third stat between 5-8%

occasionally, i spawn a fourth stat between 3-4%

rarely have i gotten a fifth stat...but it has occured.


oh...BTW...max damage and min damage do NOT spawn as PRIMARY stats on MELEE powerups

You may be missing out on some really good powerups by not continuing.


I'm a 14 point master artisan and I've found that I can get really good stats on powerups that experience a critical failure somewhere during the experimentation phase.Usually, getting a critical failure means you can get the third and fourth stats up over the typical 5-8% that you're usually stuck with, but you can only do it if you have more than 10 points (and sometimes it takes me all 14 to get the stats maxed out).


Just the other day, after a crit failure, Imanaged to"salvage" aranged PUP with 33% Max Dmg/16% Min Dmg/10% Max Range/8% PB range.

I found you get more chances of the Tertiary, Quadriary(gotten this rarely), and well Iwon't know what to call the 5th extrastat(never been able to get that)to pop up if you experiment one block at at time. (mind you there is more chances for you to fail experimentation). But i you do fail an experimentationyou have a chance to recover and make a cool PuP as usually you do end up with a Tertiary stat enhancement.

i dont have 14 pts to attempt what you are telling me...so i was refering only to a frame of reference related to +10 or +11 arty...it would be nice to try...

have to say im surprised that you obtained those results as i was under the impression that each time a stat appears...its max % is half of what appeared before it...and that is my experience...i did wind up with a few oddballs like 24/10/10 but no one wants those...

yes...that is correct...learned that so long ago i usually forgot to mention it when discussing pups or giving advice...

i usually go 1 block at a time or 2 blocks at a time with a stragler at the end...
