PE under 500 is just as good as PE 500, and I haven't seen Wind/Solar energy with PE over 500, so .........

And as to the original poster:

1) The cost of power at 3cr/unit when spread across the amount of resources that power harvests is negligible. Having said that, 3cpu is still high.

2) The benefit of buying power and placing another harvester instead of having to place a energy harvester is immeasurable especially when that uber-resource spawns.

Jedi will be rare and difficult - No
Increased Dev communication - No
CU will balance combat - No
Most of the bugs from launch fixed - No
saintchuck will continue to pay - No

- I supported the CURB, the Devs and the attempt to make SWG a better game and have realized it didn't work so I'm quitting in less than 2 days and won't be tricked into coming back again. Trick me once, shame on you...

I am not sure I agree with going straight to heavies. If you can get BER 10 mediums the operating cost is somewhat lower than a BER 13 heavy. Between the 1500 additional redeed costs and the additional per hour costs (power and maintenance) your minerals will cost you 50% more if you use a heavy, but you only gather 30% more in resources. And someone said that PE and OQ does not matter for Wind and Solar energy... I believe this is wrong. For those the OQ is always 500, but the PE affects how many units of power you get for for each unit of resource, with PE 500 being one.

Yeah, what you said. If you are not mining for profit, BER10 mediums are optimum - overall costs are way lower and maintenance/power is 50% lower than heavies - but you should definitely go with Fusion for your power needs so save up. I have 1 BER14 Fusion serving all my power needs and as for PE, yeah it does matter technically for solar and wind but I have yet to see it over 500.

In any case, BER10 mediums are usually 1/3 or 1/4 the cost of BER13 heavies and when you consider that mediums used to pull at BER4, they're a good buy.

I don't think an architect could make a BER 4 harvester unless they're also a master artisan (or pretty close). The experimentation for personals is all artisan experimentation. I don't usually get up to BER 4 until I use 8 or 9 pts depending on materials.
