Being a miner can be VERY profitable.
Just learn what each crafting profession needs most, or better pick a single profession to service. Doctors / Combat medics can'tsurvey their own resource spotsunless they pick up artisan, so they may be morelikely to purchase resources from you than artisan-based crafters.

You have to load the Fireworks Package through a really cludgey interface, instead of drag and drop, which is the norm on most everything else in the game.
???
So you've got to load it up w/ other fireworks but can't drag and drop them into it? Can you please tell how else to do it?
And the only point really is amusement, right?
No mind buff for the whole town if it's a great show?

Yea have the fireworks and the package in your inventory at the same time. They cannot be in crates. Use the radial on the package to load a fireworks in individually. I believe I get 20 per package.
And yes, they are just for fun!

Ah! Cool, never got to the radial on the thing. Thanks!
Will have to try it. I did make a crate of them just for the helluvit... Will have to make crates of a couple different types now.
Now what would be really fun is if you can set them off inside the Cantina, but that's just the Anarchist Wookiee in me speaking.

Some of my best-selling items are swoops. I carry both 97% singles and 87% factory crates of 5, and they move pretty well. Keeping Master Artisan for these two things is worth it IMO.

Does anyone think Artisan is worth being in the long run?
I do. Master Artisan is the only profession that I've kept for almost my entire time playing SWG. I dropped it once for about 3 weeks so that I could become a master bounty hunter, but I picked it up again the day I dropped MBH. When I first started as an artisan I had about 400k that I'd saved up from running missions with friends. I invested that money in a small house, 8 medium mineral mining facilities, 1 fusion power generator, and 1 equipment factory. I started mining my own speeder resources and within 2 weeks had made back all of my initial investment money. Since that time there has never been a time that I have not known a steady cash flow from my artisan wares.
Does anyone think the Expansion will actually add anything to make an Artisan more desired?
You mean more desired than we are now? Frankly, I'm not sure how that's possible. Everybody wants a vehicle. In most cases they want two or three. And there's always going to be someone who doesn't store their vehicle or gets it blown up while PVPing so there's always a need for a fresh supply. We're also the ones that people come to for their Weapon/Armor repair tools and any number of components needed by the "elite" crafters. You say you've only gotten a few custom orders? Do you always keep your master artisan tag up? I do and I can tell you that I am constantly receiving orders for components. My factories haven't stopped running in the past few days between my custom orders and my own merchandise being produced in preparation for the opening of my second location.

I just wish some of the more useless schematics can go away. I don't know what the supply and demand on the other servers are, but on Kettemoor there's not much demand for chance cubes or configurable dice. Artisan, especially the engineering line, does have some pretty useless crap on there.
My top seller has been powerups, especially if you take the time to fully experiment them and mass produce them.

I agree that there is alot of stuff that we can make that doesn't serve a "higher purpose" in the game, but that's just where you have to be creative.
For instance, you mention chance cubes. A few weeks back I was able to sell off an entire factory crate of 24 dice just because I had renamed them "Loaded Dice." No, the dice aren't actually loaded and the buyers knew that in advance, but enough people thought it would be a neat decoration for their homes that I was able to sell 12 sets of 2 for an average of 3000cr a set. Granted, it's not so much money that I'm set for life, but 36k for a total of two minutes of actual work is a better payout/time ratio than you'll get running any mission.
And yes, I was just crafting for the sake of crafting when I made those dice. I was bored and wanted to make a factory run of something.

Are you being a clueless N00b with too many expectations? Absolutely not!
It seems you can't swing a dead durni by the tail on my server without hitting at least 2 vehicle vendors. Every single one of them selling either poor quality or what I like to call "mystery" swoops for 40-50k. A mystery vehicle is any vehicle where the artisan making it didn't care enough to put the experimentation percentage in the title. When I see these I presume that the reason the experimentation isn't there is because it's of poor quality and the artisan knew that no one in their right mind would pay 50k for a 45%experimented swoop.
However, even in myserver's overcrowded vehicle marketplace I still manage to make a good living selling primarily swoops and weapon/armorrepair tools. How? Because people know me for my quality merchandise and affordable prices. I've never sold a swoop for more than 25k and I never will. Also, I refuse to sell any vehicle that is not at least 90% experimented and you will never find a mystery vehicle on one of my vendors. And the best part about all of this... I love being a master artisan. I would do what I do even if it cost me money and I had to run missions to support my artisan "habit."
I guess my point is: good for you for being excited and having fun! That's what this game is all about! Be the best artisan you can be and you'll go far.
Best of luck!
