Thread: droid crafting stations
My take on this has always been that TH was refering to the mechanism rating playing a role in the crafting process in a droid nd not that the Mechanism rating was related to the Function Rating provided by a Private crafting station. TH has admited that he is not a crafter and has a few times made mistakes answering questions regarding to crafting. If he was refering to the Mechanism Rating and its ability to reduce the crit fail rate while building a droid, I think I have helped to prove that that is in correct. Check the sig for that info.

4.) What does mechanism rating mean for crafting stations, and is there a correlation with the rating on architect made crafting stations? If so, could you give us a hint on how it correlates?

In short, this gives you a better chance to resist critical failures. It works like Quality Modifiers on Crafting tools.
TH piped in and forwarded that info to the DEV team, after I posted on the Bug thread in TC using the above quote in example. That kind of adds credibility to my theroy of what he was refering to.
What are you guys referring to when you say +N? Are you talking about the experimental percentage? That's the only number I see when I create the crafting modules.
If so, I crafted about 200 "weapon, droid, and generic item" crafting station modules when grinding my way to Blueprints III. I used quality resources, experimented on them all and saved every single one that had a percentage greater than 24%. I created about 5 of them that were 38% and about 20 or so that were 30% or 32%. None of them ever had an odd number for the percentage. But I can't tell if that has any affect on the actual crafting station when you build it into the droid or not. It doesn't seem to have any affect, but it's really difficult to say without extensive testing and I don't have the time or patience for that.
Ackis, this is also the same person who liked the "clear domed r2's". I think TH was mistaken here.

Valid point. However, also look at it this way. Arch crafting stations never had a rating. Then all of a sudden they did. The same could go for DE stations.

The Function Ratings on Architect stations were implemented shortly after release, if I remember correctly. You also have to remember what it takes to make a Private crafting station compared to a droid crafting station. I have a feeling that when the implement a droid FR, they won't be nearly as good as the are now and that the droid stations might get a bit of a re-vamping if they do get higher Function ratings.

But they'll have to do something with legacy stations. And it wasn't that soon after the game started up... a couple of months at least.

My guess is that we won't like what could happen to the legacy stations, meaning that the function rating would drop across the board. They could even become the same as public crafting stations, which might go to explain why that issue poped up a while back. Either way, if function ratings are added in and the droid stations are changed, the legacy crafting stations could wind up with ratings with a similar range of -15 to +15 that the private stations have, without high end resources and components. If that is the case, many people will dump their crafting droid for a private station or buy a new droid that has a better function rating. Just my thoughts on the matter though
I believe that the Function Rating was intorduced inmid August, or early Septemember at the latest.

Again all speculation unfortunantly. ![]()
Still, I would much rather give them a decent crafting station now, instead of have them come back after me at a later time. As well, you have people who have read what TH posted (and frankly this includes myself) and take it at face value without hard evidence to the contrary.
