Thread: NEW TOOL: Survey-Thumper
i use somthing like this often... its a personel min mine. you drop it see whats there pay 1500 and go off looking. i find this helps alot as my mind pool dont regen very fast and is a big timesaver
i think it would make a nice addition to the artisans toolbox, but i dont think we will ever see one ![]()
Every day when I play, I go in and begin to survey for the resources I need. I also keep an eye out for rare or very high quality resources that would be worth harvesting.Eventually, I catch atrace of a niceconcentration...sample a bit... woot, really nice stuff, track it to the highest concentration, rats, some mega corp found it already and has thewhole place squatted with 50heavies. It is hard to beat the full-time resource hunters to the nice stuff. The last thing they need is a tool to make it even easier.
I don't mind taking the time to survey and sample for rare resources. What I do mind is when one person orsmall group has contractedthe lots of many others and totally monopolizes rare/valuable resources almost immediately after they appear. I guess that's unavoidable, as they are able to do this full time and devoteall their resources and fortunes into this venture. It doesn't need to be any easierthough.
Just as long as the regular players still have a chance to catch some of the crumbs.
Sorry for being negative towards a really clever idea, I'm just finding it hard to be a startup in agalaxy with mega-corpswhoare basicallyhiringpeople to survey 24 x 7 and also paying people to rent their lots.
An excellent idea, which would make many players very, very happy.
Which is why there's no hope in hell of us ever seeing it.
Did I hear someone say "Survey Droid"?
Oooooh! I WANT one of THOSE!

I own and place up to 20 harvesters on a regular basis depending on my personal needs. Right now i have 20 lots split between a tent & house (3 lots), radioactives (7 lots), gasses (2 lots), Chems (3 lots), and Minerals (5 lots).
I am hardly a "MegaCorp", i just have 2 accounts, one to play combat, one to play merchant (depending on what i want to do that week). I routinely place harvesters on Lok, Dantooine, Dathomir, Yavin 4, Rori, Endor, etc... because they are MUCH MUCH less frequently visited by the main resource Corps (because of their low-low flatlands Sq.area) and the resources are just as plentiful, usually moreso because i can find strains of up to 95%+ of at least one generic resource.
It doesnt matter, all resource hunters are usually "full-time" but the issue lies in WHERE they hunt. you will guaranteed find less dense, and more occupied lots on Tatooine, Naboo, and Correllia because those are the "convenient" planets to harvest from. Corps that place 50 heavies usually NEVER EVER move them unless absolutely nothing is spawning underneath them for more than 5 days. It is too much hassle to have 5 people replace thier harvesters for you in a timely manner.
Again, GO TO OTHER PLANETS. You will be amazed at how OPEN and SPARSE other harvester lots appear.
Again x2. GO TO OTHER PLANETS. literally. i have only seen the massive harvester farms WELL AFTER there has been a shift, and they usually stay there for MONTHS.

Well, if you have two or more accounts, I don't see that as a problem. After all, you are paying for that extra capacity. It must be a challenge though... what do you do, put your other toon on follow most of the time?
