Every time i survey a screen comes up saying something about a concentrated resource found. And would i like to follow the trail. Is there any way to make this stop popping up? Would appreciate it if someone could help answer this for me.

I have been survaying for 5 months, and this is still a pesty problem. I don't believe there is any way to get it to stop

It's while you are hand-sampling, not surveying. I think it was implemented to "reward" at the keyboard sampling vs those using a macro to AFK grind.

Not really, it was the devs response to trying to get around survery macroing some time ago. But as always it didn'nt work.

Hi,
I’ve recently completed Surveying IV and am now trying to determine if there really is a benefit to surveying. Does each step of the ladder result in improved ability to survey? It says the “Each level of surveying increases the yield per sample, the chance to succeed at sampling, and the range the Artisan can survey”. I’m a miner and my focus lies with increasing my range of my surveys rather than increase in yield per sample or chance to succeed at sampling. I'm thinking that I don’t really see any improvement in range.(Butthen I only got Surveying IV a couple of hours ago and haven't really gotten out there and gave it a good go, if you know what I mean).I have very few skill points to spare and if the range benefit stops at, say, level II then there is no need for me to go all the way to level IV.
Thanks in advance for your comments,
Grey

At Surveying 4 you get a 5 x 5 survey result.
If you're not seeing this, you need to reset your survey tool range. (it's on its radial menu).
Back in the days when 100m was a long way, this was a real benefit. Nowadays with vehicles it hardly seems far enough.

With increased surveying abilities you get
Increased Range on the Survey tools (think this maxes out at Survey 3 though, not sure)
Better chance of succeeding in a Sample
Increased return on each Sample
Obviously, if you are going to use Harvesters to get yoru resources, then the benefits aren't that great, you will never sample as fast as a BER13 harvester, althoughb you are much cheaper to maintain lol.
If you want master Artisan you need, obviously, all 4 slots, but in most cases Slot 3 for the range, or if you are happy to do a lot of running and surveying, then Novice Artisan will let you do this on a much smaller scale.

As I recall between you do receive survey range increases at surveying 1, surveying 2 and surveying 4. Between surveying 2 and surveying 3, however, there is no increase in range.Just make sure you reset your survey tools (use the radial menu to select range) to the new range, or it will not benefit you. So yes surveying IV is beneficial from a range standpoint and you do receive increasedyields from sampling, yet, even sampling for hours will not yield as much as with a good harvester and if you have a harvester running you can be doing other things at the same time. Surveying does not increase harvester yeilds though, so if using harvesters it is only beneficial for finding the high density mineral deposits in less time.

However, every so often there is a really really rare resource that only seems to spawn in very small areas, and those areas happen to all lie within cities or no-build zones. In those cases, where you absolutely positively need to get a few thousand units of whatever, it can be handy to use hand-sampling (AFK, of course, until they nerf that). In which case, being able to pull up as much as possible is highly desirable. Not that this happens very often, but just thrown in to be argumentative.

Hi
i have level 2 surveying, did have level 4 but needed the SPs for a couple of boxes in novice medic, at level 2 surveying you get about 8 fails out of 12 samples (digs), so if your going to survey by hand you really need to make a macro up, by making a macro that samples 2 to 3 times then you rest is a good idea, for when those silly little survey windows keep poping up as it cancels them when the macro starts you surveying again (time saving factor)although they stay on the screen, as said above the macro that keeps repeating its self i think is going to be stoped by the dev's
