I grind cuz of competition...

All these armorsmiths already makin chitin (tantel even),while im still workin on mambari =(

I'll probably go make personal deflectors since i dont see much of those...

but yeah...other grinders force me to grind so i can compete, but i also take the time to experiment on my products to make them better than the junk in the bazaar.

Corrolary to above....

Once the grinders tire of it, and they start rolling over to the combat professions, I'll have the nice little CDEF's they need to start out as marksmen....cha ching.

I'm reading about how much weapon power ups it'll take to make it to engineering IV and how much short sleeved shirts blah blah blah... Because it's the "best" resources to XP ratio. While you grind and have CPS I'm making some of the best things I can and advertise. I wear my clothes and ask people if they want to buy anything like it. Even though I havn't even reached Novice Tailor I've made some nice sales and even better friends and customers for the future.

I've decided to make Master Artisan before I decide to hit Tailor and what I've noticed is you go up the other branches of the skill tree while making items from the lv skill I have. Before I noticed it I had enough skills to train in Engineering II & III in one go, and I wasn't even trying I was just asking people if they'd like a new outfit, selling cheep or just for tips cause I know not everyone has 3K to spend on stuff. If they had they'd be buying better stuff. I was trading outfits for bone, hide, fireplast, minerals, even stimpacks. I'm having alot of fun and my skills are going up pretty fast. When things are slow I may make 5-10 of the toughest thing I can make just for the XP but I havn't had cause for much of that. Soon I'll be Master and I'll make the grade for Novice Tailor, Droid Engineer and Architect. Cause I feel like it.

I don't truly see the point for a harvester before you hit the elete professions you can make do without one till then and save that cash and hardship. Do 2 delivery missions each way from your home town somewhere and back every time or every other time you're on and you'll be set by the time you're ready to hang with the big boyz. I'm here to have fun, not work. I do that from 9-5 daily.

Just some food for thought.

I honestly don't see the point in grinding. I also don't see the point in trying to max out my skills by the end of the first week. That's fine for some people, but I want more out of the game than just power-leveling to Master Droid Engineer so that I can charge outrageous prices for crap product becasueI couldn't take the time to find quality resources as I don't have time to do anything else but grind.

I've been playing for about 3 weeks now, 3-6 hours a day maybe 4 days a week. I'm a pretty serious roleplayer (when I can be, but sometimes it's difficult given the circumstances) and I've never had a reason to grind. In 3 weeks I've managed to reach Eng. 4 Dom. Arts 3 Survey 4, Pistol Expert, Int. Carbine, Int. Ranged Weapon, Hunting 2 and Exploration 2. I have a few level 1 skills around as well, but I got this far by surveying and gathering resources to craft the items that I use and the clothes that I wear. I craft to experiment and give away weapons and equipment to others for the UXP. (and it's pretty easy to give away a CDEF pistol that does 30-52 damage). I hunt for hide and bone and campand craft for scout skills. I don't think about grinding... the skills increase fine forme in the course of normal gameplay and I enjoy it. I don't need to sit around for hours on end churning out crap just for the sake of leveling.

I will admit however, that I currently use the HirgeCorp. "Emerpor" Pistol and "Lava" Carbine. What can I say,Oka Hirge can craft a pistol with a higher Max. Damage than what I can make (for the moment) and that enables me to solo most of my destory missions on Naboo; which in turn means I can make money a lot fasterso it'seasier tomaintain the house, harvester and wind generator.

Grind if you want to, but IMHO it only dimishes your experience in the game. In my case, I'm working toward Droid Engineer... so even if I did want to grind through the basic Artisan skills it's still 48000 XP for level 1 droid skills... that's A LOT of F***ING grinding; and you still have to gather all the resources. Of course, there are those that got in early, before they changed the DE xp requirements, who are noew Master Droid Engineers... it's not really fair, but that's just how it goes sometimes. Still, the way I figure it, becasue there isn't much content right now, the people that have already acheived master status will get bored much faster than I will.

And how in the world can you macro creating an item in this crafting system?? I haven't figured out a way to do it without using an illegal 3rd party program.

Can someone please show me where in the game it says that you are required to grind through things as fast as you can?

I see all these "I quit" messages on the boards, and as of this time, a majority of these people who say they're quitting say they're doing so because of the FS Revamp and the large amount of FS Exp. required to master these trees.

The reason they've mde the FS Trees require so much FS Exp. tomaster is to help keep the Jedi population down.

You people start whining at the very thought of so much exp. and cry "Oh no! Not another grind!"

Where in the rules does it say you have to grind?

You're not supposed to get Jedi in a matter of days. It should take a long time to get anywhere near Jedi, actually.

I suggest to anyone thinking of quitting because you don't want to go through another "grind" to take a step back and breathe.

Try playing the game to just have fun!

It's the best advice I've heard on these forums.

Don't play SWG with the attitude that you must hurry through the game to Master everything ASAP.

Play the game to explore, fight some fun battles, and make new friends.

I, myself, am working towards TKM/Master Musician.

I don't sit there and macro-grind my way through Musician. I don't go and sit for 3 hours waiting for buffs in Coronet, then go take Quenker missions to grind my way through Teras Kasi.

When I feel like sitting back and having some social time, I find a cantina and play. I talk to the customers and have as best a time I can.

When I feel like doing some fighting, I go somewhere and just run around on foot killing things I can handle as I go, and have fun seeing what I can find in the worlds.

Basically, if you cannot play the game to just have fun, then just go ahead and quit. There's nothing left here for you.

mainly because most people think the end-game is where all the fun is. its the exact same in EQ. everyone grinds up to lvl 65 as fast as they can without enjoying all of the places and dungeons in between lvl 1 and 65

Because all the good stuff is at the top, crafters usually dont craft anything worth selling or using at lower skill levels, and combatants find it very difficult to engage in more worthwhile and interesting missions. On top of that players usually have their characters figured out as to how they want them. Personally I have a roleplaying character who's imperial and its my aim to roleplay him out as an imperial storm trooper commander, to achieve that I will need to grind heavily through Imperial missions to gain the right skills to gain use of "storm trooper" type equipment and armour as well as gain enough rank to control enough storm troopers. In the future when JTL comes out he's going to be a TIE Bomber Pilot, so that means getting the flight suit and helmet and the grind towards the certifaction. For me its all about roleplaying a character that I have envisioned

The flip side of the coin there are also those who want to be "uber killers" and have set up a template by which they feel will give them the ultimate edge in the combat (which is why there is so many TKM's in a game based on a universe dependant on the blaster and lightsaber, martial arts shouldnt really belong).

Despite how difficult it can be to login to these boards, I just had to login so that I could give you five stars, EarthBounder64!

I've been playing since Week One. I'm a Dancer/Pistoleer, and haven't yet mastered either profession... I'm too busy having fun!

I do feel for the intermediate Artisans, though. I wonder what a good solution to that would be...

Couldn't agree more EarthBounder64!!

I too am Role playing my character, a human with no background no sense of existence, has empathy with many around him and is ready to take up the Rebel cause.

I've been doing heaps of solo stuff, heap of Rebel missions to climb the ranks to one day fight the filthy IMPS and their supporters

and to do thisi need to gain my xp, see a bit of the galaxy along the way, buy & sell stuff, and basically group when i have too.

meeting new friends recently has been awesome - just the other night played 3-5hrs sessionwith a fellow Rebel who was in Norway, with me an Aussie it was incredible to connecting with someone via this game and both sharpening (grinding)our XP & faction points along the way.

When JTL comes, i'll be looking at a Rebel pilot or smuggler type evolvement in my character - this is the stuff that i had dreams about when i was a kid watching the star wars movies, this is the stuff i fantasized about now i get that chance.

I jumped into Test Centre2 last night for the 1st time while my server was down, i got all my comp armour, master TK/Marksman - i was BORED with having it given to me on a platter! It's the best part of this game sharpening (grinding) the experiences both good and bad.

Maybe "grinding" shouldn't be the term we use anymore..........instead "sharpening" - the term grinding has been used extenisvely even i started to use until now, as many people see it as a grind/hard/lenghty to get where they want their character to get to. I say look at your own life, look at others around you - you don't all of a sudden wake up and your 30! It takes 30 yrs to get to that point - look at what you've done along the way, that's how i'm seeing this game, is there an end to this game - HELL NO!!!

As others have said for all those quiters, c ya, else stick around and play!
