lol. you can't answer that can you.

I give up. What's worse is the overwhelming dev response I get. I presume It's becasue this is just a passionate argument not a valid point.

So how come everytime some carebear in beta wrote a story about making a fishing pole the dev's were eager to write a nice response and pat them on their back for not grinding and taking the scenic route to their desired profession.

In beta I ground like the rest of you, because it was a job.

This may be beta 4, but it's not my job anymore, so I'm taking the scenic route. But two years is just not an option.

You don't want to grind, and you want to sell what you make because you don't want to just delete them.

Well, you're causing your own problem there and there isn't much we can do to help you. If you want to do it faster, you have to grind, there is noway around it. If you want to sell what you make you have to find an item or items that there is demand for and make those to sell (you'd still be grinding those out to sell them).

Find whatever there is in your list of craftable items that has the most dificulty and takes the least number of components and make those and delete whatever you can't sell. That is the best way to advance so you can make more interesting items. Keep in mind tho that you won't advance in the other careers any faster if you refuse to grind or delete things you can't sell too.

If you just make things as there is a demand or custom ordered you can advance, but it is sloooooow and with everyone else grinding away and making more advanced items you'll be left behind with no customers.

Up to you how you want to play, but if you're in a rush you better start grinding.

I'm not in a rush. I do make an item that people want, but my emphasis is on quality not quantity.

However, I think its all moot.

Your all right, If I don't want to grind, then I have to diversify, read as craft stuff i don't understand or want to craft.

I am now almost prepared to bite that bullet and feel the pain to get the reward.

It won't be a grind but it is a sacrifice.

I grind its boring but i do it but thats not gonna take me up to armorsmith unless i do it for 10 days solid i cant make bone armor because that needs bone and i cant get bone because i have no decent combat skills at the moment which would mean i would have to buy it and if i bought it i would need to do ridiculously long deliver missions for pitiful amounts of money and then i would have to grind making bone armor which no one would want anyway because there are hundreds of other crafters making it aswell. Artisan and the following proffesions are a thankless profession only slight hope edges onto the horizon when you are close to a new skill then you just start the grind towards the next skill hope less again. Although i keep at it hopping things will look up once i reach master armorsmith (which will probally be after the sapce expansion comes out looking at the amount of time its taken me to get to engineering 4 at whichtime it will probably be an obsolete profession anyway.) I think crafting missions would be a welcome and probably one of the greatest thing to happen to the artisan profession since sliced bread.

Make bone armor pants or chest plates. Those have 400-500 xp and can be sold for cheap on the bazaar to recoup your costs. Sell the parts for like 900cr each, and newbies will buy them. You can buy large quantities of bone/chemical/etc. on the bazaar for a decent price...you just have to look and be patient.

Yes I am lazy

But I don't want to be a armorsmith, so why should I have to make armor.

Ok, first of all, I am a novice armorsmith. I had to do it the hard way. I am not in a PA and I only had two friends that helped a little whenI was on my way to Armorsmith. The fact that they used every single power up I could make and kicked me in the butt to make more and more of them probably helped. But this is about you.

You have shot down everyones ideas for you. Why? Why did you post in the first place? Make bone armor. Good suggestion that one and you say "why doI want to make bone armor? I don't want to be an armorsmith." Well makeing bone armor is general crafting xp. Not only that, but it is GOOD xp. You can use some of your own "finely crafted couplers" and goto town on some animals. Now you have gotten your own materials and got some weapons xp. Now before you say "why would I do that? I don't want to be a marksman", just know that you WILL need some ability to defend yourself. I am a armorsmith, almost master artisan, a scout, marksman, and medic.I will not master the last three, but there are skills there that are helpfull. Don't get to bogged down in one thing.

So if you are going to post listen to peoples suggestions, that they took their time to write out for you and say thankyou. If not, don't come back. You have had the most ungreatful tone of any poster I have seen yet.

Have a nice day!

Just a note to people who are suggesting selling bone armor cheaply on the bazaar. Where I live, this is a baaad way to look for UXP. Why? Because I buy cheap stuff and destroy it. So you can get your tiny price, probably lose money on the whole deal, and get no UXP.

If everyone did a little more of this, the market would improve quite a bit. As it is, there are only a few products I can manage - but you will NOT see those products sold cheaply on my planet, I guarantee it.

Beyond this point, you should consider this: combat types have LOADS of money. The reason your weapons and armor aren't selling isn't the price. It's mostly likely one of two things:

1. The quality stinks
2. The combat folks already have all the equipment they want.

The problem isn't price right now. No bounty hunter is going to buy another suit of bone armor just because it's 100cr when he has a perfectly good suit already...

if you are on a heavily populated server, then there isnt much of a chance of sellingpowerups on the bazaar, no matter how low you price them. i say you just give them out for free. this way, even though you are losing money, people will use them, you get UXP, and they know you make good products. it will all work out, all you have to do is missions to get your funds up. or you could get off your lazy butt and make some bone armor, or heavy axe. they will actually sell, especially to n00bs.

You will have to grind. But I'll give you a few tips so you don't feel like you're wasting the crafted items. You might say you're investing in your future by sacrficing items, credits and resources...

Here's some tips:

1. Setup resource harvesters for Fibreplast, Steel, Copper, Low-Grade Ore, and Carbonate Ore, and one or two Wind Generators to power them all.

2. Sell the resources on the Bazaar in 250 or 500 unit batches (look at the going rate and adjust accordingly)

3. Do destroy missions on the way out to your harvesters if you can

4. Run delivery missions if you have to run between two cities to get to your harvesters

5.Buy hides and bone on the bazaar, use your own Fibreplast and Metals to make Bone Armor (leggings or chest plates)

See, resources are consumable as well, and people do buy them. So you can easily turn a profit after paying your harvesters and use those credits to buy bones and hides to craft your bone armor to help you progress quickly to the smithing of your choice.

Granted it takes a couple days to get all that setup, but once you got it going it shouldn't require much more than a daily run to gather the hoppers, pay maintenance and deposit power.

This is how you boost your XP.

1. Have 5 generic weapons and droid crafting tools.

2. Have enough materials to make 200 muzzle weapon power-ups

3. Start making muzzles. When done with one crafting tool go to the next crafting tool.KEEP THEM SPITTING OUT. That way you dont have to wait for the crafting station to output to your inventory. Destroy the muzzles after there made, when your inventory is full.

You can get 6000 Xp an hour this way

I also took your route. I have Surveying IV, Engineering IV, both of the other Level I artisan skills, all level I Marksman skills, all level I scout skills, and Organic Chem I and First Aid I. What this has allowed me to do is be self sufficient without the bazzar. I don't even have to sell my wares to survive. I figure I can do that later when I make better goods.

My suggestion allstar is to branch out. Perhaps pick up entertainer. Then you can craft instruments. I would for sure do Scout, then you can get your own bone/hide. Survey/sample while you craft. Often you can recoup your use of materials before your good is put into the hopper. Always experiment.....Good luck
