You'll need some med skills to heal a bio pet ( and yourself, biological right! ). No skills needed for mechanical pet heals.

Have pet stim usage been altered, been a while since I used a pet but I use to use pet stims without Medic?

hmmm... maybe.... I thought so. Now you have me questioning my memory on Pet Stims.Memory module breaking down. I'll verify this for myself tonight.

I do know that a Stim A, which was usable on pets do / still require a medic requirement.

Novice medic is required to use stim a's and b's. also petstim a's and b's. You can use regular stims on pets they just aren't as effective

Try rounding up a posse' if you don't want to spend your dough on armor, buffs, or BE clothes. Depending on how populated your Planet/City/Server is it should be fairly easy to find a few combat types willing to help you remove the pests. They're probably running around smoking lairs for xp anyway. Furthermore, as an Artisan, it never hurts to have a few friends with some muscle.

MY GOD!lol. by the time everyone's done you'll be asking a whole guild to escort you on sampling. Look man I do it by myself with no pet, droid, armor,or combat skills ALL THE TIME. It really isn't that difficult.

MY GOD!! lol. Just because you find it easy doesn't mean everyone else does. I'm happy for you that you do it all by yourself with no pet, droid, armor, combat skills, guild, penknife, pencil, first aid kit, phone number for the mountain rescue, but some of us need advice.

Master Crafter here with zero scout (no maskscent), zero weapon skills. Haven't died on a survey run since vehicles came out.

Yes, armor will eat into your mind (surveying) and stamina (sampling). I carry high-kinetic ubese armor. I wear an imperial prototype PSG (covers all damage types if it has **edit**ed correctly - carry more than one) for 39% protection and chow down on a synthsteak for 30%-ish protection for 30-ish attacks. I also NEVER get even one step from my landspeeder near aggro mobs. I use a macro to dismount, survey, mount (stop moving first or you WILL end up too far from your car). I have a macro to throw on my armor quickly if I'm really in a bind.

I recently survived forays on Endor, Lok and Dathomir, never got hurt much let alone needing to clone.

Absolutely. I carry round a set of chitin tied to an armour macro, and keep my speeder out. At the first sign of trouble I hit the macros and I'm outta there. Its still annoying though when the good concentration coincides with a mauler spawn point

It always seems like that doesn't it. Its like the high level mobs can smell the high concentrations and camp there. And if they dont they will surely have camped your harvestor when you return to check it.

this is all very true for me as i am artisan... I dont mind the Challenge of getting to that spot o ore... or that high concentration... but could they at least give us some XP for the lengths we sometimes have to go through to put these things in place...

You got some really good advice so far. Armor will help a lot, you don't need to wear it all the time, just toss it on if bad guys are after you. Somebody mentioned a Pixie, which in emergencies is great. Also don't overlook some of the other foods that will increase your Health and Action, then pop a Muon and your mind is covered.

My Artisan has zero combat skills, but she has a Macro that with one button, will put on her armor, drink a Garrmorel, Accargem and Pop a Muon. Only for emergencies. Burst run is your friend as well.

You only need to get off your bike for surveying, sampling, and placing the Harvester. You can do these very quickly, then jump back on your bike.

A combat droid is probably a much better option then any pet you can control as a non creature Handler. It wont kill harder mobs, but it will give you time to get away. Don't worry about leaving him behind, you can store him from your data pad.
