Thread: How to make a macro repeat itself?
The idea of unattended macroing is completely legitamit during beta no one b1tched moaned whined or cared if you ran a mcro its your own business that why i think they didnt mess with the Survey EXP needed because they realize people will get to level 4 survey within aday or less it will be done and fast Because people can macro etc.
The key to a long lasting good surveymacro is to find out how long you can survey before you action runs out.(time it) and then find out how long it takes for you to regen your action while sitting.(time it)
once you have those two times, in seconds i might add. you need to put it into this equation:
/kneel; /sample; /pause <time it takes till action runs out in seconds>; /sit; /pause <time it takes to regen action>; /kneel; /sample.....and soo one you just have to write the code repeatedly.
heres an example:
/kneel; /sample; /pause 300; /sit; /pause 300; /kneel; /sample; /pause 300; /sit; /pause 300;
that would run your sample/survey 2 full times.
i hope this helped or whatever, gl. Sample it up!
Yeah, I agree. I don't have a problem with macroing while you are eating some food or something. But for like 18 hours is another story. If it starts happening though, I'll just have to do it too. =)

Um - some of you aren't paying attention - you canno longer do unattended macroing. I don't know explicitly how the fix was made (I think it's tied to being AFK), but a long running macro now stops automatically at some point.
On the last day of BETA, hour+ macros were not working.
I'll have to test once I can get on, to make sure and to narrow down the cause. I'll be sure to post what I find out. In the meantime, has anyone successfully run a sample/pause/sit/pause macro past the one hour mark? (heh, has anyone successfully logged in for an hour yet?
)
With only 3500 people out of lets say, 10,000 people on one server being able to get in, they don't want 1000 people doing 24 hr unattended macroing. That would be keeping the people who want to actually play the game out. They didn't say much in beta because there was a fixed amount of people testing and it didn't matter if you macro'ed till the worts came home!
This is a direct copy and paste of Sal's comments on macroing, I had put it up on my guld boards...
"OK let me clear things up. The use of in game macros is fine. They were implemented that way to be used that way.The use of third party macro programs is something that we need to look into. So far I have seen EZMacros listed (which appears to have problems running in SWG). Are there any others out there?

and...
"Simply put, any use of in game macros that we did not intend has been changed. The use of 3rd party macros to do things like afk crafting and such are not what we intended or it would probably be in the game. Once again I will say, using in game macros is fine, but using third party programs is something we have to look into. Which is why I need as much information as possible. When someone says, "My friend has an 800 line macro that surveys and crafts for him" that is something I want information on. Thus far nobody has given me a solid program that works with SWG save the ACTool post by Blackfoot and the information we received about GEAR.
I hope I have clarified what it is I am trying to get at here. 3rd party program macroing is something that we need to look at. If you all feel that third party macroing is a problem then give me the information. In game macroing is legal at the moment and if we feel it needs to be changed then I would expect that we would do that.

Holo also posted later syaing pretty much the same thing, I didn't get a chance to save that one before the wipe. In short there is nothing wrong with using the macro tools provided by the game itself.
Here's the question: How do I end a long-running macro? I can't figure out how.
To end a long macro...
It seems that only one macro can runa t once... so... make a short macro and run it to stop ![]()
short answer is using the in game tools you cant, it's made that way.
>Isnt' there a way to change the timer on the auto-afk? Perhaps turn it off even? It's been a while since i've looked at that screen, but I might have to check it when i get home tonight.
ctrl +o then AFK menu
max afk time is 30 minutes. it isnt 30 on by default.
Hey Tempest,
I think that you make a valid point. However, I can't imagine Sony allowing players to edit a call file as to bypass a system that is scheduled to log you off or make you go AFK after a certain time. It creates an unfair advantage for those players willing to allow the game to run continuously while they are away. So, I think that Sony will crack down on what is considered unattended macroing. They will allow it to an extent using the built in macro functions, but they won't let it be abused.
