Yeah - that's what surveying does. Gives you a map of your areawith theconcentration of a particular resource. So you put a harvester at the highest concentration.

What if you only have novice artisan and fs survey 4.

what will your survey range be?

FS survey 4 gives you +20 surveying. Since novice gives you +20, you'd be at +40. Novice artisan + survey 1 = +35, so you'd be slightly above that with the FS skills, so it might be enough to bump you to the next survey range increment. Novice + survey 1 is still at 64m, I think the next one(usually obtained with survey 2)is 96m or 128m.

Could every +20 Surveying = +64m range?

I wonder if I could hit 448m withSurvey IV, FS Survey tree, and +20 survey food or +survey attachments.

That's awful. I misinterpreted it. I thought it would have the spot where the harv would fit that was the highest concentration of the resource highlighted for you on the overhead map. Or at least have the numbers on the overhead map.

My main reason for taking FS surveying...which I still don't have a full box of since I'm filling it with merchant experience...was so I could place harvs on heavy foliage planets where you can't see the ground well enough to know if the harv can be placed there or not.
