To skip the tutorial, uncheck the "tutorial" checkbox on (I think) the last screen of character create where you enter your name. Its at the bottom.

As for logging out, the /logout command logs you out gracefully, but it still kicks from the game. In the beta it left you on the char select screen, but it would crash as soon as you tried to re-enter the game. Thats probably why they have it quit out now.
