Thread: Pleas dont sell stuff for dirt cheap! SWG team please set a min price for objects.
Axly -
I'd take your idea a step further. In addition to being able to filter out CDEF weapons, I should be able to view only weapons with a damage of XX or greater, selling for YY or less, regardless of type if I choose, or of only a specific type.
The problem with something like this is exposing that sort of functionality without making the interface difficult to use. There's already a good deal of complexity exposed to players in this game.

Another critical issue is the fact that browsing the bazar is a freaking pain. NO I DON'T WANT A FRIGGIN 17-35 CDEF PISTOL.
20cr to post crap on there is a real joke. I whish they would've left the price to post at least at 100cr as it was tested during beta.
The effect of that is that now I make my own CDEF weapons that beat 90% of what we see on the bazaar, and when I'll want to upgrade I won't even look at it. The galactic bazaar is rendered useless for weapon shopping now. Still usable for clothing, armor and deeds. But totally pointless to even look for a weapon or powerup.
Just because you can make better weapons doesn't mean everyone can.
Besides, I agree with you that the bazaar should be better. If the Devs added the ability to do very detailed item searches, like I want a ranged weapon -> gives me all ranged weapons, and I want a pistol -> shows me all pistols (it already does this), but now let me go further and specify damage capability, power ups, sort by range, etc. It's a lot of work, but it would make browsing the bazaar much easier, and improve the economy.

I would be happy with just a nice sort by dmg/rng/dur type option.
Bah. Dirt cheap stuff doesn't hurt anyone. I started out trying to be clever and undercutting my competitors. Then I realized people didn't care about a few credits here or there at this level - they just want good weapons. So, I started cranking out optimal CDEF weapons and sold them for reasonable prices (well under 500 credits), with a naming convention on the items to give them "grades". THEN I started seeing my product flying off the shelves. In about 4 or 5 days, I've made almost 20k just selling CDEF's. Once I make Weaponsmith, and start cranking out non-newbie weapons I'm going to make a KILLING.

Price controls don't work. They don't work in the real economy, and they won't work in this one, for the same reasons. If a price is artificially set too high, then sellers will end-up with supplies they cannot move and a glut will develop at the lowest price. The seller won't be able to make any money anyway, because there'll be far more items for sale at the lowest allowable price. This is a law of economics.
Keep the prices free!
anytime you have a price floor (a minimum price) you have a surplus.
anytime you have a price ceiling you have a shortage. (when's the last time you saw a house on the bazaar?)
If the Devs truely wanted a free-market economy, they'd leave the bazaar alone, and let us sell things how we choose. The economy will stay broken until this is fixed.
I would like to see the bazaar price go up to a minimum of 100. I would like to see anyone who is only a novice (no boxes filled except novice of anything) be limited to 5 sales at a time. I would like to see access to the bazaar for more sales be controlled by the business line.
These three things would strongly reduce the clutter on the market.
Other fixes that are needed:
1. Better sorting on items in crowded categories. Sort the entire list, not just the page that is showing. Put some filters in place which are based on the actual item, not the name given by the player.
2. Lower themaximum time to 2 days.
3. Lower the availability of the bazaar to people who do not sell their items. In other words, keep track of how many reclaimed items there are. After some number, reduce the count of allowed items by one. Allow some means to recover the count, or allow someone to buy the count back at a high price.
Just some random ideas.
