What game are you playing? Resources shifted around at least weekly in beta, and they've already started changing on Bloodfin. I'd say they are still on the same schedule of frequent resource relocation.

Sir, it's quite possible that this game is not entirely stable.

"Not entirely stable." Well, I'm glad you're here to tell us these things. Chewie! Take the professor in the back and plug him into the patch server!

I'm still working on Novice Tailor..all I have is Dom IV and Survey IV. So all I can sell is things that fall under that.

I have no problem selling things on the bazaar(in fact I haven't sold anything any other way, more do to my playstyle then lack of customers for street sales)...Travel Packs being the big ticket item atm(1,100cr a pop)...food pff I make it its gone.

As time goes on food will be an even bigger item...clothes will inevitabley start to decay and even if they don;t probably the #1 thing most important toMMORPG players(especially in this type of game) is LOOKS.

Sorry I find the premise of your post to be simply wrong.

Forgive me, there are so many excellent arguments, i'm almost replying to them one at a time. I skipped some though.

2. Clothing does more then just make you look good. Even at lower levels (Domestic IV) I am making clothes that have 3 sockets on them that you can apply items to. I can't keep travel packs on the Bazaar for longer then 1 hour and I sell them at 850 a pop. I am swamped with tells for clothes everytime I walk into town.

I want to make an important distinction: I am a Master Artisen and I am playing the game to have fun. I have about 15k in the bank and spent about 15-20k on training, resources, Matinence on Harvesters, tipping, travel and the list goes on. To me grinding to be the first or the richest is not fun at all and are very narrowminded goals.

It's true. Food is very helpful, and I can imagine the chef profession being worthwhile in a month or two--AFTER people realize the inherent benefits of food and drink. But right now, you can't give it away. People are still tuned to the classic EQ style, and they think food and drink are just a joke (especially the same people that don't care about their appearance). I mean, I think chef is the only profession out there that has to /shout to sell their goods! I do it all the time, too, dude! I mean, everybody else can just go to the bazaar...

I have no idea what sockets are; I think few people do. Ifwhat you say istrue, THEN clothing will be helpful depending on the usefulness of these "sockets". But for newbs, it's hard to sell anything. I think the worst thing is: a lot of the starter clothes is better than much of the newbie tailor made stuff. C'mon SOE! Let's use some common sense, here!

And as for your last point, I, too,am not concerned with getting rich and grinding (we're actually very alike people); however, I am concerned with balance. If a professional artisan like yourself can only rack up, oh, about 40k in his lifetime total--and a combatant can make 20k a day, then we have problems.

Wow, this is insane. My server, Ahazi, must suck then, OR the better explination: you guys are all tailors, not artisans! As of now, there probably aren't even more than 10 tailors per server because it's so early in the game's existance. So you guys are making never before seen pieces of clothing, WITH beneficial attributes.

So it's my fault, I forgot to make the important distinction in my intial post: it's not clothing in general that's weak, it's NEWBIE, Domestic Arts clothing.

As for the other person who said the food was selling on Tatooine--I'm speechless. On the chef forum, I have talked to people who are so upset at their inability to sell food despite advertising often. It seems that the good people of Tatooine on your server have finally been enlightened. I wish I could say the same for mine.

Nope, sorry, wrong. Domestic Arts, even if you never build a single item in the line, gives you +10 assembly and +10 experimentation. That's 1 more experimentation point per skill level.

Was capping out on CDEFs. Started going down the Dom Arts line to master before I become a droid crafter, and lo and behold, I crank out a 30-61 in each of the three CDEF types.

The attitude of this post went from sincere to malicious. The last few posts are like, "Nope, you're wrong Felzor, sorry!"

How can I be wrong, when i'm the only one with REAL proof behind my claims? It's irrelevantif I say that people do NOT care about appearances, or whetheryou say people DO care about appearances. It's not importantif I say that food is unpopular, or that ifyou say that food IS popular. It's insignificant if I say armour is the only worthwhile thing to sell as a Novice Artisan, or ifyou say that everything is worthwhile.

Itis releventthat thereare fewer food itemson the bazaar than practically every other Novice Artisan item, and that they sell for dirt cheap.

It is important that newbie clothes have no physical purpose, and that newbie clothes sell for minimal amounts, if anything, on the bazaar.

It is significant that bone armour, which can be made at DA II, is being sold for thousands of credits on the bazaar.

These are all indisputable FACTS. Go to your server and confirm these facts yourself. Look, I'm not trying to be rude, or stubborn, but I am trying to use FACTS--instead of opinions or flames--to back my statement that Engineering is the only worthwhile DA skill.

Yes armor does sell for much more but clothing takes many less recources to make and armor requires hide and bone and on the bigger peices such as the chestplate it takes lotsa hide and bone wich means it should be selling for more than clothing although later clothings such as the pimp gunmans duster wich i still cant find sells very quick for lotsa creds

To make a simple pair of boots as a tailor for DA, you already need 20 hide.

To make some of my food as a chef for DA, I need up to 20 meat, 5 hides, and 20 bone, all for ONE dish.

So, no, we all reply heavily on scouts. The reason armor is worth so much is not because it takes a lot of resources to make--it's because it actually has a purpose.

You are completely ignoring the resouce-to-profit ratio involved.

Everything takes less to make than armor. Armor sells for a lot, but you cannot sell it as often. Things like the backpacks sell for approximately half as much as the armor and are about 5 times less resouce intensive and sell about 10 times faster.

Math, kids, math.

I've given up on armor though. Armor is for armorsmiths.

I happen to be taking the one long road up the Engineering Tree for Weaponsmith. However, on Intrepid, I have put a scad of good quiality rifles and clothing and resources on the Bazaar. The weapons are still there, but the clothes and resources sell likeSin in Las Vegas, you can't see it on the board for longer than an hour.

Also. Evidently, the resources are not as permanent at most think. Just today, the entire line of Sapeh went exinct in my server. I know my weaponsmithing has been set back a couple of days, because my Mineral Extractor had been harvesting nothing for several hours without me knowing. Now I have to find out which is the next best mineral to mine that isn't too close to town.

I'm assuming that the bone armour at DA II thing is a typo, and that you really meant ENG II. Even with this fix, however:

Not all facts are equal. Bone Armor being made at ENG II is a half-truth at best. Why? Read on...

Itis significant that you cannotbuild an entire set of Bone armour at ENG II.

It is significant that you canbuildBone Armor Boots and Bone Armor Gloves at ENG II.

It issignificant that you can build Bone Armor Left Bicep, Bone Armor Right Bicep, Bone Armor Leggings, and Bone Armor Helmet at ENG III.

It is significantthat you can build Bone Armor Left Bracer, Bone Armor Right Bracer, and Bone Armor Chest Plate at ENG IV.

It is not relevant that thereare fewer food itemson the bazaar than practically every other Novice Artisan item. The laws of Supply and Demand apply here. The catch is, in SWG, you can't tell just by looking how many items are actually selling. It could be thatto the Supplyis low or the Demandis high. This is actually better than the alternative: high Supply or low Demand.

The fact that they sell for dirt cheap is that most novice food items are relatively low creation cost items.

It is relevant that raising your DA level gives you more experimentation points.

It is relevant that you need DA in order to gain the Master Artisan level. Whether or not you're going for Master Artisan it is up to you.

Personally, I'm considering making and selling Personal Mineral Extractors and Wind Harvestors. People are trying to sell them for 3K a pop at the city I'm in, and I figure that selling them at 1.5-2K might actually sell them (obviously, they aren't selling at 3k). This is because I've seen people asking about them in the Bank Square in the town I'm in.
