I hate this forum software...

Froma server saturation point of view, I agree. People who are marked AFK should get an audible alert and message box about once an hour asking them to confirm thier presence. If the server is not full, don't worry about it.

Heck, I've even read that you can migrate your stats to replenish your HAM quickly enough that it never runs down, thanks to the 26 second downtime or whatever it is. So whatif people who don't even macro, they just start sampling and go off and do whatever? Is that a violation?

If it's third party software, yes it is an exploit. If it's a misused feature of the game, they'll fix it. /bug, /report, oropen a CS ticket on it and move on. Let SOE decide if it's really a problem or not. Posting a ranting thread like this is just trolling.

mmm I think you need to get a grip.

First off you are not kicked out of the game if you are afk for over 20 min. (or longer). I did alittle macro sampling last night for around 30 min and didn't have any problems. In all the patch notes I've read there has never been any addition of the system kicking you out for not "doing" anything.

It takes hours to gather a good amount of material now. Do you really think anyone wants to sit there doing nothing for hours? Harversters are nice but they aren't practical foreveryone. The devs already "fixed" sampling so it works as they intend right now. Using the tools the devs gave us is not an exploit, it's that simple.

You need to get a grip reporting people for sampling will only annoy CS and make other players dislike you.

This would be funny if it wasn't patheticly infantile. The argument comes down to 'You can do something I can't or don't want to do so I'm telling." My 4 yr and 2 yr act better than that. Get a grip and go get a life. There is no magic anti-macro code just put in by the devs, yet there is code that logs you out after a long period of inactivity. (BTW macroing counts as activity, the character is actually doing something) I macro sample. Sometimes I have no choice (like now, where I need tons of reactive gas and I couldn't find a decent sample anywhere but in a no build zone)

Well, I hope to see you on your server although I don't macro. I go AFK frequently while I sample because as a medic I get barraged by requests for healing which I can't do outside the med center. I look forward to you reporting me so you can eventually get your account closed due to harassing other players.

I wouldn't worry about it Brad. The Dev's have already stated that AFK macro sampling is not an intended game mechanic. The last attempt to discourage this was not affective in my opinion but I'm sure it will be made so eventually.

are you sure your information is correct? I was macroing last night for a long time and over an hour straight and I never logged off. I also had Auto AFK off so I wouldnt AFK.

You might be thinking that when you go afk after a given time it boots you. I never go afk...

as for macroing and creating aliases in txt files that run macros, its a function of the game. They could remove it if they felt it wasn't being used correctly.

I have a program I wrote that generates multiple text files for my use. From behaviors in the game to sampling for days straight provided that the server stay up... I found that once I put up 5 harvestors I can get WAY more resources than I can macroing for it so I dont even use them anymore. I have been master artisan for a long time now and agree with the person that said once you hit Surveyor its pointless to do it yourslef anymore cuz you can not use the XP you get anyway.

Now I am focusing on creating code to generate text file that exhibits "behaviors" for my character. For example I will make a set of aliases that will bring more life to my character. Randomly coughing, looking at differnt things, making gestures.. changing moods ect ect ect.

For those interested and that know a little about programming. Im using simple VBS to create an object (notepad) and write a file full of aliases just like the ones I did for sampling. In the code I create an array and populate it with a lot of aliases. Then I set up a For next loop that makes as many lines of the aliases I want and it will randomly choose a element of the array to plug into that step of the "for next". So what I end up with is something like this.

behavior0001: /mood angry; /pause250; /behavior0002;
behavior0002: /say Wait until I find them...; /pause 600; /behavior0003;
behavior0003: ect ect ect, with various actions, say chat, and moods switches. The /pause will also vary and be random. This way I can run my script and it will create a Random set of Aliases related to being happy.... or I can run it to create a bunch of aliases related to being sad.. angry.. frustrated... stressed... and on and on and on.

All I have to do is delete Behaviors.txt and re run the scritp to generate a whole newset of behaviors, or even the same behaviors just different pause times and moods, says, and actions.

The behaviors would be able to run hours... days... or the duration I was logged on...would I be an exploiter?

A smart programmer would create some code to make his text file but also randomly through in some sneaky /say chat to make his would be "hall monitor" think he was there. Here are some Ideas.

1. The Foriegn Person sampling alias. *** Yeah Yeah I know its bad but most people will give up if they think your not understanding the language.

These aliases would sample for hours as normal but would also do /say chats all the time... random time values as well. Acting like he is speaking in another language or didnt understand English one of the two. That would narrow down most people right there.

2. The Busy Person sampling alias. *** attempt to make any person close to you believe he is not being payed attention to because you are in tells with a customer... or in tells with a friend.... The occational "accidental" Mistell would make them think you are actually talkin to someone.

These aliases would act like this person is actually in tells with another person. and do a mistell, like " yeah ill be there in a bit Im sampling"

create a bunch of those and have them randomly stuck into the sampling macro, or create both... a sample text and a behavior text, load them both in the game and run them both of a seperate hotkey

I'll work on player AI while they are away in game sampling, hows that. Anytakers? haha
