Thread: An odd question

The best template you can make for you or your wife is using elite professions that build off of the same basic professions. For example: The best template for a Master CH I've been able to come up with after the CU is Master CH, Master Rifleman, and some Bounty Hunter. The reasoning for this is Bounty Hunter builds off of 2 trees that are allready used in Marksman and Scout to reach Rifleman and CH. 3 of the 4 BH trees give you defensive modifiers and because you don't have to take new basic trees you can fully go up 2 of the trees in BH. This does not work as well for a Mele profession and a CH because there are no elite professions that build off of a Brawler/Scout combination like Bounty Hunter does in the Marksman/Scout combination. So any of the ranged elite classes combined with CH and 2 trees of BH are probably going to be your best bet as a CH is concerned.

Now for your character...from my playing thus far post CU I've found that having basic Medic is pretty much useless now. Pre CU Medics could heal wounds so it was an important part of my character. Post CU Medics no longer have the ability to heal wounds. Healing wounds is not acquired until you hit Doctor or Combat Medic. Also important Pre CU was the ability to use Stim Packs to heal normal damage. Post CU this also is no longer a Medic ability...it is everyone's ability! Stim Pack use is now determined by your combat level so anyone can use Stim Packs to heal normal damage. Pre CU with a little bit of Medic I could use up to Stim Pack B's...Post CU I have dropped Medic and have been using Stim Pack D's and looking for E's. Also normal damage now regenerates much faster then it used to so typically I only use Stim Packs now while in battle to keep from getting incapped or killed. After battle I just let my stats regenerate on their own. So unless you are planning on going all the way to Dr or Combat Medic I wouldn't reccomend taking medic. Now the question is...do you want to be ranged, mele, or a CH. If you want to be a CH with your wife then see my suggestions above. If you want to go the ranged route combine Pistoleer (for the defenses) with either Rifleman, Carbineer, Commando, or Bounty Hunter. If you want to be mele I'd suggest looking at Swordsman, Teras Kasi, Fencer combination. Because all 3 come from the same basic profession (Brawler)you can actually master all 3. Swordsman will give you high damage dealing while TK and Fencer give you many defensive options.

Right now my wife is going CH/Carbineer. I have the ability to go CH, but I've opted not to at this point, although it might be fun to have a menagiere.

What are the benefits of going Ranger? Could I go Ranger/CM/Swords? Or would I be better off going Swords/Rifles/CM?

Is it possible to sell animals on the Bazaar? Or do you have to have a vendor?

There are a variety of different kinds of bio-engineered clothing. For CH, clothes that give pluses to taming and mask scent are verynice to have.

Ranger advantages: pluses to harvesting, mask scent, and tracking - very nice to have. Traps are some what helpful. Ialways liked using phrenacine dart to slow down mobs or wire mesh to hold them in place. Unfortunately, traps don't work that well against higher level mobs.

Ranger disadvantages - no combat capabilities.

Again, remember that to be CL 80 (highest level you can go), you will need to be a master in 2 elite professions. Which means that you won't have many skill points left over, soyou could do swords/rifles and some medic, but I don't know if you would have enough for cm. I've never played cm so someone else will have to tell you if that would be preferred over another combat profession like rifles.

ranger traps work well on high level MOBs, unless they changed it post CU. I used to use Adhesive mesh traps (Scout trapping IV) on Grauls and Mereks all the time to solo in the old system. Ranger traps could snare just about anything. I dont know how any of that works now, but it used to

As far as Ranger though I think it would be a good compliment to your wife's template. Ranger is great for finding specific creatures, which is something she will want to do as she gets to higher levels in CH. You will also give your group bonuses to harvesting. Plus you get really nice camps, which, although not very useful anymore, are great places for training pets, hanging out , and healing up. Ranger is basically the ideal hunter when coupled with a ranged prof, mask scent, camo kits, terrain negotiation, and harvesting bonuses are all huge if you plan to do a lot of hunting for resources, not just XP.
