Hm. Discussion here died down.

This is Definitely something that Thunderheart and the Developers need to get back on. Too many people want it, and it would be great for the economy.

The facts in this statement is completely false.

The problem is not many want it and the economic reprecussions are too drastic.

Just check out the past threads on it and the past threads that were in this forum about taking away harvesters from non artisans. The facts are overwhelming

So when presented in the Core Systems forum it lost it's support

Once more into the breech...

A mining profession can not be implemented because it would give too much of an advantage over the basic block of the player driven economy. Resources are what drive the economy at its most basic level, and by giving any one profession a monopoly or an advantage in the gathering of these basic economic souces would seriously unbalance the economy, such as it is....

If you think the prices for items is outrageous now, just imagine how bad it would be if one profession had full control over resources....

Once again, this horse is dead, rotted away to nothing, and unable to be kicked any longer. You want to be a Miner, then do it through the use of currently available professions. Artisan to survey, Merchant to reduce the maintenance cost and to sell the resources, Combat skills so that you can survive the wilderness....

A Miner profession will not be implemented

Sounds interesting. I would love a mining profession. I wrote up a tree for my vision of the miner as well. You can find that in the following thread:

Very bad idea to have a separate mining profession, we use enough skill points just being a crafter, now you want to have to come up with enough skill points for another whole elite profession???

How do you expect to have resources for your crafting?

Ifeel that mining should be part of artisan but certainly not its own profession.

Forquite a time in the beginning,survey4 granted the Miner title. I liked that, I think thats the way it ought to be.

1) too many people can use harvesters so a proper solution is making harvesters usable only to crafters ( harvester certifications).

2) If you limit mining to only 1 profession then they are going to be sickly rich. A better idea is put harvester certifications in the professions that need them to make things something like:

Heavy Harvesters = Master Artisan

Medium Harvesters = Novice in any elite crafting profession.

Personal Harvesters = Novice Medic, Scout, and Engineering 3 for Artisan.

Factories = Master Artisan or Master of any elite crafting profession or any profession that needs to build things. You only get the factory your profession needs except Master Artisan gets them all.

10 Lots per account. So that means no cross server lotting.

Possible compensation being to slightly raise the resources harvested per harvester although highly doubted it would be needed.

Thats my idea anyways and I think im quitting the game if harvesters arent certified like soon(next publish).

Thecrafting professions that start in artisan are really the only ones with heavy inorganic requirements and I think medium and heavy harvestors should remain there. Every one else should get personal harvestors. Even their name suggests for personal use without certification and its a viable product for artisans. This is the way it was suppose to be but of course they got heavies instead since there was nothing to stop them.
