So make it so that one vehicle can only attack another vehicle. Then no kiting, no killing ANYONE not also on a vehicle, no killing ANY creatures or lairs. And, to avoid people exploiting vehicle combat by dismounting and remounting, simply have a timer. Say, once you dismount you can't remount for 30 seconds. And have the vehicles ONLY target the opponent's vehicle. Then the Devs could even add in Swoop Gang members actually ON SWOOPS!!! What a concept

I just had a thought on this issue. What if the vehicle weapons could only be used to shoot other vehicles, with possible splash damage to the player mounted on the vehicle. We could say that the targeting computers can only lock on to large metal objects or something. I know that is a lame explanation for the limitation but it would solve the kiting issue completely.


At the moment it would also limit it’s use to PvP since only players have vehicles, however NPC’s with shooting vehicle could be brought in.

I don't know about the combat stuff, but I think multipassenger ground vehicles would be awesome. Anything from MP AV-21's to troop transports.

From what I've read the devs actually agree with you on this one. The only reason we don't already have the capability to bring along a second person in our AV-21s and X-34s is because there are some technical issues that prevent it. It's been a long time since I've read the dev comments on it, but there were essentially tracking issues involved with trying to move more than one player along the same path.

Well they've done it in JTL now, so let's not it's not that much of a leap to do it for ground vehicles.

JTL is irrelevant because it's a totally different gaming engine. My understanding is that the problems they've had on the ground are directly related to the way the groundgame engine keeps track of where players are. This same issue is also one of the reasons behind why characters are known to slide from time to time. However, they've fixed the chair sliding bug so maybe a patch that will fix slides all together is not far off.

Multi-passenger land speeder, combat bikes, etc.



erm, here is my 2 cents..



Multi-passenger land speeder, wont happen. This would require 2 player PCs to work perfectly.. an Example of what the Passenger would see if this would be in Effect? here is an Example..


Medic and a Incaped person...


If the Medic Drags the other person.. Like a Passenger in a Vehical. then the Medic will see toon being dragged smoothly. However the guy getting Dragged will see a Choppy World as the SOE server tells the dragged toon where to go. The Mechanics of the game are the same if the Vehical were to drag a Passenger .And if that didnt not make sense to you then I am sorry. Think of it like this, if they used the smooth version of drag ( Autofollow ) then the Passenger would be Floating behind the vehical to someone.



Combat bike... yea,,, I see this as useless, If they added the weapon it would not be fair if it were stronger then a CDEF... and what do you plan to do... Shooot the Bike out from Under the Overt or Jedi who is runnin on one... that Kills the ONLY way a person can retreat. I sell bikes by the crate and Love to see Business but this would be wrong. Combat on a Jetpack maybe, but No weapons on Bikes.


LOL I can see it now... hey Smuggler I just got a Krayted Speeder can you slice it, its 800 max dam unpuped ( More Powerfull then a Novice marksman, Hell more powerfull then Most master Marksman

You should be able to shoot from your speeders like the movies. The swoop and speedbike should shoot and the X-34, AV-21, and Flash speedershould be able to carry passengers.

The main problem with trying to get this idea to work is the fact that this is an RPG. Vehicals like this seem to be more geared towards high paced travel, and equiping weapons on them is better suited as twitch first person shooter like game play, and not RPG like calculations. Granted you can still do it, it just would seem less fitting in an RPG style combat.


Now you also have to take balance into concideration as well though. Faster Vehicals, smaller Vehicals should have not as powerful weapons, while bigger, heavier, slower vehicals can have more fire power. The speeder bike and swoop's main advantage would be speed, so it would have much less armor and some but not much fire power, while the Landspeeder, and AV-21 would have more armor and more firepower. Master Artisans can make these however so you would really need a new profession that does manufacture vehicals. Master Artisans still need to make the stuff they can make, but as non-combat.


New Vehical Idea's

Starting with a combat version of what master artisans can make.

Scoutter Speedbike light armor light firepower

IntersepterSwoop Very light Armor very light firepower

Attacker Land Speeder Mid-Light Armor Mid-Light Firepower (single person version)

APC Land Speeder Mid-light Armor light Firepower (3 seater)

Assalt AV-21 Mid Armor Mid Firepower (single person version)

APC AV-21 Mid Armor Light firepower (3 seater)


Now new idea's

Starting with combat vec's

Light APC Mid speedMid armor light firepower (6 seat)

Light Tanks slower speed Mid Armor Mid Firepower

Standerd APC Mid speed Heavy armor light firepower (8 seat)

Standerd Tank slow speed Heavy Armor Heavy Firepower

Heavy APC Mid speed Heavy Armor Light firepower (8 seat) (2 people can add firepower at their own risk armor protection from APC reduced by 50%, and they use a 50% reduction from of their own skills Accuracy, Damage, Speed)

Heavy TankMid speedExtra Armor Extra Firepower


Non-Combat

Automated Mobile ???? Harvister, Personal???? Survey Device, mid speed, light armor, can be equiped with a droid computer for auto extractingand sent to pickup harvisted resources from embedded and remoteharvisters. (a vec for each type of resource, ???? is replaced by resource type) Not like the off planet survey droid, unable to fly between planets.

Mobile Personal Extractor, no survay device, midspeed, light armor, not able to equipe droid computer, enhances charactors survey extraction rate and provides a small storage compartment.

Multi-person Landspeeder

Multi-person AV-21
