I think will be a great improve for the game have vehicles with combat capabilities. For example the Speederbikes in the game don't have any combat capability, but on the movies (Episode VI) all speederbikes have a blaster integrated, so if you mount this bike you are able to shoot other vehicles and other enemies that are not no vehicle.
It also should be possible use range weapons like blasters to fight meanwhile the character is mounted, not only on a vehicle, also mounted on a pet.
All of these will give more real effects to game, because in the real world of Star Wars all Speederbikes are for military use and have a blaster integraded and is possible use weponds when mounted, but the characters will have some penalties using them becausethe challenge using a weapon and drive a vehicle is more that only fight or drive.
So a new branch of professionthat permit these newhabilitieswill do good, I mean professions similar like pilot that cost 0 skills points in JTLS expansion.
I think is a mistake have an speederbike with no combat habilities integrated, is not good for the game and for world of the real Star Wars, should be better add the combat for vehicles or just delete the Speederbikes from the game, because these vehicles are for millitary use.

I agree. I'm really hoping they bring a Vehicle manufacturing branch to the game. Multi-passenger land speeder, combat bikes, etc. The possiblities would be endless...not to mention it would make a really cool new crafting profession.

I can tell you havent been playing very long. because that IS already possible
Since this would be directly affecting the ground game it should cost regular SP. Like shipwright costs regular SP because its just another crafting profession
They did this for game balance. Do you know how easy it would be to do missions on a speeder? Heck you wouldnt even need armor or buffs you could just kite the lairs all day and not take a scratch. I dont even wanna think about PvP with this........It would be horrible people doing suprise attacks on overts in starports. Im pretty sure this would be the last nail in the coffin of PvP for this game.

That's not complete true, because now mounted players are defenseless, animals attack and sometimes kill players when they are only traveling for that place. If exist a new vehicle combat profession also will be new combat XP like the with starships, so if you destroy a target that is more easy destroy in vehicle than in foot, then then XP you get will be less and also the XP will be for vehicle combat not for polearms for example.
Also in cities is more dificult drive vehicles with all the buildings, so players fighting in foot or in cover will have more advantage than a expossed player fighting in vehicle. Also think that vehicles are very easy to destroy, a player that try to ambush a overt party could be stoped by destroying his vehicle first, think that is not very dificult for a speederbike. For more powerfull vehicles or multiplayer vehicles like the jabbas vehicle shown in Episode 6 could have equal chalenges, like the AT-AT or AT-ST even turrents. And not all vehicles could be permited to enter in all the cities by the city guards(for the security ofthe city)
Also are not need to expend more skill points, combat vehicles could be crafted by master artisan and the combat vehicle profession could cost 0 skill points like the pilot professions.

Alot of that makes some sense except for the last part. The ONLY reason that the pilot professions cost 0 SP is because they offer NO combat benifit for the ground game........at all...........any profession that allows any type of combat gain on the ground HAS to cost SP for balance reasons becaus if it didnt there would be absolutely no reason not to get it no matter how hard the grind is players will always try to get that one littlebit of an edge. And they would probably have to add in a new crafting class to do this because each profession has a certain ammount of "cookies" or spots where the devs can program in abilities for the profession (I assume to cut down on server client lag). So these new vehicles would probably require a new class to make.

You will never see weapons mounted to a vehicle in game. It allows kiting and it would make someone to powerful. You can say that doesnt affect a ranged target in PvP. But most things you fight in the game are melee. And if you can just fly a circle at 15m and continue to fire with impunity it makes it unbalanced. That was the reason the devs said when vehicles were released. And i dont see them backing down now.

Thank you. I dont know why I didnt say that earlier. However if a slower "tank like" vehicle were introduced that was to slow to "kite" we might have something to work with.

I highly doubt this will come, yes of course half of the awesome stuff in the Jedi movies aren't in the game. I mean, have you ever seen a wookie with a power hammer, taking bajillions of hits from Stormtroppers and easily defeating them all? Didn't think so. Allowing non-combat players to own and operate a speederbike with weaponry would make all combat players mad, it would be unfair. The abillities to run missions with such vehicles would just make it too good.

Armed vehicles have been kicked around as an idea for quite a while.
I don't know one way or another, but I think there is a chance we might see something like this. However, expect a counter to help address kiting.

Then, if Speederbike wont have fight abilites, then it should be removed from the game, because if you examine it, you will see a small blaster in the bottom of the vehicle, if the weapon is there, then why you can't use it?
This is a bug, if the vehicle will never have a fight ability then the blaster from the vehicle should be remove or even better remove the vehicle and remplaced it for another type, because is an insult have a vehicle like this in game without the use of the blaster even if you can see it.

Only being able to shoot forward in a 90 degree arc would make sense. The damage/speed should be based on the quality of weapon you get from a weaponsmith
