Yup, this wasn't at all like the introduction of creatures. Too many master artisans I did some brisk business in Bestine right after server-up, selling for 50-75k per vehicle. But pretty soon, most towns had about 3 master artisans with their title showing, and more without the title but still offering vehicles, and prices dropped.

It looks like prices stabilised more or less around 5 cpu, or 25-50k per vehicle. There are a few people selling below that... that's their choice. I refuse to go below 5 cpu, as my resources are limited anyway, and I hardly thinkthis is price gouging for such a useful item. In any case, I also offered to make them for free for those who brought their own materials, if they'd tip me whatever they thought the service was worth. Heh, I had only 3 takers for that, even after telling interested people which resources to buy, and how to get it from the bazaar (there was plenty on there at 3cpu). Incidentally, those 3 persons thanked me but didn't tip a dime. Quite a contrast to the 15k I had to pay a CH to make a mount out of a pet I supplied myself.

those of you talking about the cost of making vehicles, and extracting resources are forgetting the time it takes to survey, sample, place harvesters (took me 3 hours to get my 6 mediums down on decent 50+ spots on tatooine last week), or the skill point cost of being an artisan. my time is worth something to me, as is the effort i've expended to become a master artisan. if you value your time and effort at 0 credits, well, thats your choice.

i was in coronet, selling vehicles this morning/early afternoon for 50k per. i sold a few to friends at drastically reduced prices, as well. i ended up having 3 crit failures on assembly, and one double crit failure in experimentation that produced a 35% swoop. thats out of about 20 vehicles i made this morning. i estimate i made about 500k credits.

i'll keep selling at 50k per vehicle til i don't sell anymore, or til i burn through the couple hundred thousand metal i've set aside for this. if i sell it for much less than that, its not worth me standing around shouting, cause like i said, my time is worth something to me. as a buyer, you may feel my time and effort is worth less to you, and thats your right. but i guarantee you won't be getting a vehicle from me, unless you're a friend of mine

Maybe you're playing from china and don't understand a free market economy...

If he's selling it at 18k and that's his below his operational cost, he'll go under very quickly.... not a threat.

You're the idiot if you're running around telling people they're morons for selling that low. Well... maybe he's been able to produce them for 10k? 8k each isn't too bad... and he's going to sell a hell of alot more than you. If your cost is 20k and you well for 40k... and sell 5 where he sells 50... you get my point.

Welcome to economics 101. Balance is what will be achieved in a free market economy... stupid people on both ends (too cheap, too pricey) will fail.

Yeah, but what you're forgetting is that there are an endles supply of undercutting idiots who ruin the market for the limited supply of intelligent people trying to makea profit. Their stupidity kills US.

I was scared that this would happen

>>> If he's selling it at 18k and that's his below his operational cost, he'll go under very quickly.... not a threat.

I wish that were the case. But it's not.

Assuming that the economy is a closed system you'd be right. But it's not. Artisans don't need to make their money selling wares, they can make up for it with Survey and Crafting missions.

People who are selling vehicles for 20k or less are obviously playing this game for fun and not victory. **edit** morons!

I guess that I have to come to accept that being a Master Weaponsmith/Master Artisan is little more than a habbit that needs to be funded by missions. Thanks to all these guys just playing for fun... **edit** morons!

Just like mounts, it'll level off, there there will still bea need. The "undercutting idiots" are playing the market as it's ment to be played. They're taking advantage of a situation where there are 50 people selling an item that they can sell cheaper than everyone else. If there's a game company in you town that sold every game for 5 buck less than everyone else... you'd shop there, even if there's 49 other stores selling the exact same game.

Don't like it... better yourself. Either find a way to produce it cheaper, wait a week for prices to level off, or go back to selling powerups. If you think you're going to make alot of money off of vehicles you're not. They have high initial demand, but once they own one, they'll just need it repaired... that's it.

One point that is being missed. Im making more money then you selling the resources. Sure you sold 20 speedersor moreand I only sold a few. That means you made more money? LOL! Not at those prices. Notunless someone gave you the resources and some cashto. I get my resources cheaper then most, sinceI amaMaster Architect. I don't believe incharging to much either. But I do need to make more then I would just selling the resources straight out or it is not worth the time.

So agian

8000 resources for a swoop bike

8000 mined resoucesat .5 credits per unit.

Cost of resources/swoop 4000 credits

Selling swoop for 20k gives you 16,000 credits of profit. Not bad if thats all you look at.

Selling the 8000 resources on the bazaar for 4 cpu gives you 28,000 credits of profit. Thats no critical failers, no customer compliants and no shouting swoops for sale at the local startport.

Is 16,000 or 28,000 better?

This does not take into account the fun factor of course. Maybe you really enjoy selling swoops at the Starport. That does have monetary value in my opinion. Just don't think you are some financial wiz for making less money then your local miner.

"Assuming that the economy is a closed system"

Good point. And, your also right that artisans don't need to make profit on the vehicle, because they can supliment it with other things. Hmm... sounds like a large corperation. Sony sells a new flat panel monitor for 800 that's pretty but no one buys... the project goes under, they're able to fundthe losswith revenue from thier speaker sales...

Anyhoo... it will level off. Everyone's just WAY to antsy to sell these things at uber profit. I have 12 harvs running right now, I know what the resources REALLY cost, and it's not 3cpu. It just irritates me how greedy everyone becomes during feeding frenzies like this.

As a note, I'm making vehicles... but mostly selling to people in my city and PA... I'm making about 10k profit on each sale. Fine with me... and I know my customers don't mind that small price margin. Be a business man. Market your goods. When you've got 100 people selling them to 1000 people... how are you going to pull a higher % of sales than everyone else. That should be what people are focusing on. Sometimes it's dropping prices... but I'm sure everyone can find better ways.

The Master Artisan's moneyitem will always be the powerup.
