We have one of these threads on the Ranger forum to. Its an interesting way to follow up with all the professions and their use of droids. Since droids are one of the main things that will help you with immersion into the starwars universe.

hehe yeah this is a goal to try to see what new functions or augmentations to existing ones the whole swg community would like to see droids get. thanks for the feedback everyone

get a good probot, with 3k ham and 160dmg every .8 secs itll slam a scyk get some repair kits and it can handle a lair of them. (no skills required for the rpr kits either)

great ideas btw everyone, i espcially like the repair module change that would be awesome also make repair mods sell again.

- R3's are up to 4300 HAM and work nice as this. And LE Repair droids can have a combat module and 5500 HAM so they tank even better. Might be time you contact your local DE

I have tried out combat droids, and they simply have no staying power. I'm talking about a special ability similar to the "Rescue" ability of rangers that can pull a MOB off me so I can get to the blasted extractor. I'll have another look, but the last time I had a combat droid go up against that big bad mountain squill that always camps my extractor farms, it took a huge beating in no time and I never did get to service those harvs. Had to come back later with a couple of combat characters as bodyguards to get the work done.

You need repair kits, or a probot with mostlyautorepair mods and 1 combat mod or an r3 with the same, i take out mountain squills with my probot but it still needs repair kits. mountain squills are a fairly tough opponent, to have a tool that can kill them for no SP's is already a pretty impressive thing. (considering you dont have to have any combat skills either)

Thanks for the tips. I'll have another look. Nevee imagined a combat droid could handle a mountain squill.

Honestly, Combat droids ROCK !

I use um all the time, I have zero combat skills, or medic. I can take down a lvl 71 critter, Reclusive gurk king is the hardest one i can kill, I have done it more than once soo its not a fluke. Famba, mauler spawns, plains hunters, Ive done the whole jabba theme park with it. They are more than enough trust me.

Here is what to do,. Get a nice R3, put 5 combat modules and one stim pack in case you get into trouble. Get your self a bottle of brandy, accrogrm, and eat some won won, and citrus snow or crispic, also some synthsteak cant hurt. Now grab a pixey spice and hot key just for emergancys. I have my stats migrated to full health, about 1100 or soo, then action is around 500? mind 400? i dunno something around there. bascially i have my health maxed with action second, and least mind. Yes i survey like this.. just drink the brandy and accrogrm when ever you want to survey and you can sample non stop. This extra 400 or 500 health makes all the difference in the world when it comes to combat. I wear tantel chest, and Krayt Geo-bone with an energy and kinetic layer. Basically my arms and legs have all but stun and full resist on head, chest, boots. I survey like this also and can scan/sample non stop with no rest,, as long as you drink the beverages. I also eat chandan and have +19 tapes : )

Now hot ket a nice stim pack, look for around 1700 and now this is Key, get your self some C12's and make some power ups. with this combo you will rock. You will be dealing 1000+ damage and your little combat R3 will tank and with 5 modules will take out even the toughest critter/npc well atleast on the non adventure planets. You can take out up to 2 7000+ ham critters with this set up. Sure it may take a while but those sycks and squil will be toast. I have yet had to call for back up even when my harvesters are camped by maulers on naboo, or pirates on lok..

Another trick is to hop in your vehicle, agro um and slowly lead um away. This may take practice but you can generally get um to follow enough to give you room to service your harvesters with out um attacking. Just dont lead um to far as they will respawn right back on top of your stuff. The trick is to lead um just far enough but not too far. Its tricky but with practice you can do it.. Im going to go deaper into this in my combat/service section of my mining faq : )

I think the original poster was asking what Artisans want from Droid Engineers, and most of the responses are what Artisans want from the Developers regarding Droids. How many ofthese ideas can becrafted today? I'm really asking; I'm planning to start the DE path and I want to know what's useful about Droids.

While a comprehensive planetary survey droid is a great idea in concept...it sort of takes the work out of resource acquisition. I think that this might lead to every artisan class getting a droid of this configuration and then piling harvesters on all of the "sweet spots". There would undeniable be a outcry from artisan who didn't get their droid off to survey before the spots were all found/taken. Part of the fun of resource gathering is the chance that you'll stumble upon a high % spawn of material that nobody has found yet...and exploit it in secret or with guildies/freinds. Having a droid deliver all the location of spawns would eliminate the need to ever hand survey again...heck even non-crafters would get in on the game and then resources gathering would become MORE difficult and LESS rewarding than it is - which would really suck.

An alternative might be to have a droid that you'd call during surveying, perform your survey and then have the droid "follow the trail" to the highest concentration of that spawn and report back when it's done - maybe not even relaying the final % found. It would be beneficial, but not mindless. Then you'd have to go to the spot and see what was there.

The maintenance droid issue is, IMHO, a must. We've got droids that willpay maintenance, but not add power...how tough a fix could this be? I can't tell you how many times I've ventured afar on Yavin or Danthomire to find a good % yeild, using maskscent just to keep the critters at bay, finally plopping down my harvester only to come back the next day to find a dozen red-con pirates camped out there. What I wouldn't give to have a droid be able to zip in there and take care of business for me. Even if it were allowed to be aggro'd, and possibly destroyed it would be better than taking that chance myself. I still think that emptying the harvester should be done by hand, or at the very least by a BLL

Just my two cents as a non-combat master-crafter.

Well as an artisan I would LOVE to have a driod that would do basic maint on my harvestors.

Basically I place power and credits in the driod and it goes around my static mines keeping them powered and in working order.

This is what driods are SUPPOSED to do anyway.
