Thread: How will we eventually be able to get to Master Level?
I spent some time looking for people to train and I tell you what, I was only able to find two people. So, if I find 2 people in roughly 6 hours of gameplay of hanging out solely in 'Newb' areas and I need to train 30 people (Based upon current returns) it will take me roughly 90 hours of gameplay... Which means, I will be a Master Artisan in about 9 weeks or so.
Personally, I would rather that not take quite so long... I would be VERY happy if that only took about 4 weeks.
Of course, it is still early. So, anything could happen. I might be in luck in a few weeks and be all set with more people to train then I can shake a stick at.
It is just that right now, my initial impression is what I currently see.
Which is kind of sucky for me.
There is no lack of people to train, there is just a lack of people whose skills are lower then my own to train up.
And don't forget, there's always the elite professions to train up in too.
Besides, it would be very nice to have all the AXP needed when reaching that level.
but imo this "aprentice points system" is a flawed idea which is part of the root cause of many closed SWG accounts .
Having come from UO & DAoC ive been trying to persuade a lot of players to come to SWG but the main problem has been the players who have cancelled accounts due to SWG forcing players to rely on each other in so many areas. [and their negative views have put off many from trying it]
If this apprentice idea is essential to the game then an additional method of gaining these points should be implemented .
EG you sign as the apprentice to one master player.
the master player can then give you missions [from the aprenticeship mission creator in the datapad] that reward him and you with apprentice points.
Im also having a bad time getting to artisan master, I just give up for a few days and run round selling items. Ive been to Coronet and we have competition, sometimes 4 artisans all trying to train people. Some artisans offer 2000 if you let them train you, this cant be what Sony had in mind!
I tried to start an apprenticeship, I offered 3k of steel, copper, aluminium and ore with +14 crafting tools. I thought an apprenticeship was a superb idea, gathering good role play with an excellent start for a new player. I offered training (obviously) and guidance with any problems or questions. I emailed this to all the apprentice artisans I could find but still have had no answer, maybe I will have when I log on instead of crying on this board!
I did post an idea that you could grind the artisan xp in Universities infront of npc classes, like surveying (I know that sounds dull but its an option).
I am a longway from gettingmaster artisan, have already reached 4-4-4-1 (Trandoshan Brawlers have low action/mindso surveying is taking a long time), and continueto get crafting experience from making my harvesters, etc.I already dropped my four domestic arts boxesand built them back up. You have never seen a more ecstatic person than when you ask someone who is a novice in an elite crafting profession if they can train you in all four boxes of a skill.
Hmmmm.........I think I see a business opportunity here.
