Thread: How will we eventually be able to get to Master Level?

I am finding fewer and fewer people, with which to train as an aprentice, as the days stretch on. What's going to happen when I reach Level 4 Engineering and I am unable to find ANYONE with skills low enough to help me train them so that I can reach Master Skill?

Is there something in the works to allow me to reach that Master Skill level if I can't find enough people to train?

Does this mean that I am basically 'up Something's Creek without a paddle' for being someone with a day job? I can only play for a few hours here and there and mostly on the weekend. How will I be able to reach the places I want to reach if I can't find ONE person without spending 6 or more hours straight to train as an Engineer?

THis is just a guess, but find someone willing to untrain Survey 4 and train them over and over again.

My guess is that there will be lots of individules with surveying xp well above the necessary.

When does surveying xp stop/cap?

Is there any use for surveying xp once you reach survey 4??

The trouble will be finding those people. It could take me 4 years just to reach Master level because I am not some college kid or school kid with more leisure time then responsibilities. I find it terribly frustrating. I keep looking around, but I am simply not finding anyone that I could help out all that much.

I really wanted to be on Starsider... In fact that was where I went first day, but my character became corrupted in their database problems. When I logged in, he had no hair and NO PROFFESION!

I lost about 3 hours of work and was quite unhappy. I deleted him to create a new one and BAM! I was hit with the 'Stick of No Longer Able to Create a Character Here +3'. It really sucks.

I am over that bit...

Anyway, when someone drops a skill, don't they lose all their XP back to the start of that skill level? Wouldn't that mean that I would need to sit around them for like 6 hours or more while they rebuild that survey skill?

I don't have that kind of time on my hands.

seriously, in beta we had fewer people on a server it was fine, surveying EXP is capped at 20k at level 4 and no there isn't really any other use for it. Will you quit acting like college students and kids are some how depriving you of a gaming experience? this game was designed for the casual gamer and I never had a problem finding someone to teach, worst case just hang around the artisan trainer and offer to train newbies that come to it for free.

Well then, if it caps at 20,000, and it takes 10,000 (I _THINK_, I could be wrong), then anyone who is above artistian will (should) have enough xp to untrain once and train again, possibly twice.

Just be nice to folk and offer them some cash or minierals to train them over again.

This should work - correct?

Yeah or worst case scenario, find someone non artisan, give them 150 credits they train in artisan, sit them on a nice mineral concetration let them get to survey one, teach forget, relearn, and give htem maybe a 50 credit tip each time or something.

I am not acting like they are depriving me of any experience. I haven't blasted them for having the free time that they have. In fact, I wish I still had that time, but alas, I don't and one day, neither will they!

I am just under the impression that my casual gaming time may deprive me of an extremely enjoyable experience since it has been, so far, not the easiest thing in the world to locate someone requiring a little training.

However, if I was able to spend hours upon hours logged in... Then I would greatly increase my chances of finding people that require some training, since I would be logged in during their 'limited' free time on 'Server-X' giving me a greater chance of running into them and being able to train them.

I have nothing against college kids, re-read my statement previous statement and you will see that it was more about my available gaming time then lamenting about your percieved "evils" of school aged and college kids.

...and what do you consider casual gaming? How many hours since Thursday have you put in? Me, I have only been able to play for something like 6 hours altogether.

I work all day (in fact at work right now) and find that the best thing to do is when I am in town to just see what people are shouting and not exping tips has also helped me. I don't really have that high of level yet since most of my weekend playing was spent finding junk to make stuff to make better stuff heh, but I really don't see that finding people is going to be a massive challenge.

I have put in 30 minutes since thursday anyways of course it makes sense that you will get better results with more time invested, I mean every where in life the more time you spend doing something, in general the better returns you will get. However the apprenticeship EXP should still be quite acheivable in a week if you only play 2 hours a weekday and maybe 4-6 on a weekend, if you play less then maybe 2 weeks. I don't really think 2 weeks is too long to get master artisan, just find something else to do while you work on it(hunt up great resource spots and make high quality weapons for the bazaar instead of the normal cdef crap, work on experimentation with different items, etc) Don't be afraid to search using ctrl+p to find novice artisans and send them a message asking if they need or will need any skills trained.

Not exping tips? I think you might have meant expecting tips...

I never ask for payment when I train. I just group and hand-over my knowledge. It pays me back in greater returns of AXP. (Apprentice Experience)

One guy asked how much I wanted and I said to him 'nothing will be fine' he demanded that he pay me. So, I took that as an opportunity to hand him a Blaster Carbine and asked that he use that weapon in return. I don't know if he did or not, but that was all I asked for his creds and training.
